Hey guys wondering what States are AUTO friendly as in where can I buy one.

While we are at it let me know if your State is Bali friendly as well.

Don't know about States, but I do know they call Detroit the "Motor City"
Hope that helps. :D

Oregon and Florida for sure. California allows auto's with under 2 inches if blade length.

That's all I know of.

You can scratch Washington State off your list, as we can't even have those little 2 inch blade autos here.:(.

Good Evening All-

Your state of residence may also grant additional automatic knife permissions if you can prove the functionality of your hands/fingers has been compromised through medical condition or injury. A search on BladeForums would yield results in that regard.

As I recall, and I'm no expert on Florida -- haven't even been there in years -- Florida will issue qualified residents a Concealed Weapons License which includes automatic knives. Florida residents will want to check into that.

In Tennessee, you can get a collector's license. It's not good for carry, but good for collecting.

Some state laws have exceptions for "curios and momentos." This is designed to allow you to hold on to the knife that grandpa carried in WWII or some such thing. I wouldn't suggest pushing it to far, "This is my momento of my trip to BladeShow 2003," but it may apply in some cases.

The key to the Georgia law in "concealed".
As long as it is not concealed and not on school grounds an auto is fine and there is no crime or contemplation of a crime you are OK (outside of the city limits of Atlanta). In onther words you could carry an auto or sword for that matter.

Non Residents too.

Good point, same in Oregon. While you can carry an auto in Oregon the letter of the law says it cannot be concealed.

This law always seemed rather stupid to me since if I carry an auto in a sheath or clipped to my pocket no one could tell the difference between it being an auto or manual, but if I slip it in my pocket all the way it's now against the law.

Texas is very UNfriendly toward autos.

It's a class A misdemeanor just to possess a "switchblade knife".

I can see the police now, while you are at work, knocking down your door to execute a search warrant at your home looking for your two inch Boker auto.

:grumpy:
