What States are AUTO friendly???

Good point, same in Oregon. While you can carry an auto in Oregon the letter of the law says it cannot be concealed.

Oregon's definition of "not concealed" is quite permissive. Basically, if any part of the knife is visible, it's not concealed. And if it's carried in any "conventional" way, i.e. a common sheath that looks like it might be a knife sheath, and that is visible, then it's not concealed.

i belive NYS where I live as long as you are going hunting or fishing

It might depend on what you're hunting for... ;)

Seriously, Mr. Tonyccw is in NY and has done considerable research into the laws of New York. He can certainly clarify.

South Dakota. As I recall the switchblade laws went off the books in the 1970's. Ballistic knives are a no-no but that's it other than the prohibitions against all kinds of weapons offenses. We're also a "shall issue" state in which you are automatically considered elligible to carry a concealed pistol unless you are a convicted felon, under 18 years of age, addicted to alcohol or other drugs or have been committed against your will to a psychiatric institution within the past 5 (could be 10) years.

Here's the text from Bernard Levine's website.

South Dakota - 22-14-19. No person may own, possess or sell a
ballistic knife. A ballistic knife is a knife encased in a
tubular metal sheath which when removed, uncovers a
detachable blade that can be propelled by a spring
mechanism operated at the push of a button.

Okay- assuming everyone who posted knows thier stuff, I compiled the list. Please remember that a) I'm not SURE anyone is correct and b) some states might have restrictions/limitations. As always you should be aware of your local laws!

Here they are:

Oregon
Florida
California
Arizona
Kentucky
Georgia
South Carolina
Alaska (I think is what he typed!)
Utah
West Virginia
Idaho [Really?!]

Thought a list might help...
