What steel does Spyderco use for the painted Delica 4 Pocket-clips?

I'm wondering if I can remove the paint from my Delica 4 and polish the clip to match the blade but I don't want to run into any corrosion issues. Just sort of seems like it should have a naked clip since all of the rest of the steel (blade/lock-back/liners) are naked and the screws aren't coated in anything. I want to take this thing with me when I run or ride the bike (maybe not during, but I usually clip it in the waistband right after and I'm sweaty - I don't want it to rust up on me in one day like some other steel clips I've found weren't meant to be uncoated).

I searched and couldn't find anything - I assume its some sort of semi-stainless spring-steel?

Anyone know?

Lots of people strip them including myself. Never seen a hint of rust and never heard of corrosion either. You should.be fine.

Thanks for the info. I was just pointing out to my son (who was reading my post over my shoulder) how cool it is that with Spyderco, the founder of the company will sometimes respond to questions. That blew his mind (he's got a modest collection I started for him including a Blue Delica and he wants more Spyderco knives).

I love this company.

I also have stripped the clip on my Delica and Endura and haven't had any rust issues. I think it looks nice as is without polishing.

You can use paint stripper or you could just sand it off. A wire wheel works well too.
