what steel for the ultimate tactical/urban jungle carry...?

For pure stainless, VG-10 has impressed me the most.

Otherwise, A2, D2, and 1095 are pretty great.

Edge holding critical...corrosion resistance...low maintenance in the field... something that scoffs at abuse :eek:

You're demanding high performace in four areas:

1. Edge holding;

2. Corrosion resistance;

3. Low maintenance;

4. Scoffs at abuse (I'll call that toughness).

The one steel that comes to my mind that ranks high for all four qualities is Busse's INFI. But it won't be available for your custom maker.

Brules - re: INFI - the same might hold true for the Starret steel...Mad Dog Knives uses it exclusively, as far as I know....i haven't seen a source for it on the net anywhere...

Maybe "INFI" is just a code name....."secret A-gent mannnn"

D2 is hard to beat.
Does anyone really know what Infi steel is? I was once told by a Busse dealer that it was developed especially for Busse by a steel firm. I found it hard to believe a steel firm would develop and produce a special steel for such a small market, the dealer quickly agreed.

Proprietory means they bought the rights to it, not that they have a secret volcano laboratory developing it for them :D
