What steel was OKAPI knives made of when they were made in Germany?

Does anyone know What carbon steel were okapi knives made of when they were made in Germany?
Did that steel change when it was moved to South Africa?

You're asking for ancient history here man. Be patient.

It was and is made of cheap carbon steel. I don't know the exact composition but don't expect magic super steels.
