I just posted this in the gallery but I don't really know what to call it. I was just wondering what kind of knife you guys consider this. Is it a short bowie? A fighter? A hunter to some?

To me it's not a hunter though it could be used for that. I guess short bowie fits my definition best. Just curious.

10 1/2" overall
5" cutting edge

It would help if you gave us some dimensions but it could be any of the uses you mentioned it may be to big for a hunter to some and others may find it just right everyone likes to use different sized tools.

depending on the dimensions of the blade that could easily be a hunter. Anything over 4 inch blade to me is out of hunter league as there is no single reason to ever need more then 4 inches of blade, even 3 inch blade can do anything you want or need as far as hunting needs. really hard as im left guessing the actuall size of things

Forgot about the dimensions. Thanks Bob.

Overall- 10 1/2"

Blade- 5" (actual cutting edge)

3/16" thick 1080

Maybe it's just a general purpose camp knife. :)

I'd say its a hunter, if not a camper. It's got that very generous belly which lends me to believe it has some utilitarian or field dressing purpose in mind. It also incorporates a lanyard hole which would allow a much safer grip on the knife during heavy use such as chopping or whittling. However, it also has a very slight clip whereas most user knives have a drop point profile.

Looks like the now popular modified drop-point. No swedge and full flat grind like a drop point with a straigh drop to the point from mid spine like a bowie. Bad-ass knife KNIFEABILITY all humans need it.

Well, I can tell you that it isn't a fillet knife. I would agree with camp knife, something you would play mumbly pegs with. Is scout knife a valid category? It really reminds me of something I saw a lot in scouts as a youth.

In any case, it's a gorgeous knife!!!:thumbup:

Either Hunter or Camp knife seems appripriate to me.
