I recently added my first Spyderco to my collection. It is the military model with s30v. I really like this knive but it is a bit large for EDC. What is the closest model to the military with approximately a 2.9 inch blade?

The obvious answer is the Paramilitary:

It was designed for those who like the Military, but want a smaller blade. The blade is still slightly over 3", though, so it may not meet legal requirements.

It has a different type of lock (Compression) which many prefer to the liner lock on the Military.

I thought about the para, but I work at a liberal arts college and need to keep the blade under 3 inches.

The blade on my Sage measures 2 15/16". Liner lock like the Military, same S30V steel, leaf blade, and the carbon fiber handle qualifies as a work of art all by itself. :D

My UKPK measures 2 7/8", once again S30V steel, unlined G-10 handle and a very discrete low-ride wire clip. Great knife that has been in my pocket every day since I got it a year and a half ago.

It is a bit heavier but I might consider the full flat grind Delica 4, with foliage green G10.

The Delica or the Sage would be my choices. UKPK is nice, but non locking. The Caly3 is also very nice, but it has a backlock and is a bit heavier.
I picked up a T-Mag when they were selling for around $50 a pop, and I'd probably use that instead. S30V/Ti/CF. :D

The UKPK & Calypso's might be a hair long, but the Dragonfly or the up coming Urban will work.

To be people friendly a UKPK is probably ur best bet. BUT i love my Caly 3 and EDC my Sage.

Sage is like knife bling to me. Very affordable for the features.
