What surefire to get?

I have an Executive Elite E2e with an additional LED head&Lamp. I just purchased an M4 Devastator with a 250 & 350 Lumen lamps. I have the 250 in and a couple of boxes of SureFire 123's.

Yes, there are all sorts of devices that do that, though I'm not sure where to buy them. Canadian Tire maybe?

Testing the voltage of a lithium cell doesn't tell you anything; voltage doesn't begin to drop until the cell is practically dead. There's been some talk about shorting it out momentarily to measure amperage, but that's a bit controversial.... More at the Batteries Included forum at www.candlepowerforums.com

If a 2xCR123A light isn't too long for you to EDC, definitely check out an A2. It's the only incandescent flashlight out there that's regulated (doesn't dim or yellow out over time until the batteries completely poop out), and the LEDs give you a nice low mode for when you don't want to blind yourself. As CODE 3 said, the "low" is pretty low, especially compared to an L2 or other multi-level LED flashlights. But then, it's not meant to be. It's a level meant to not blind you (and of course, there's other colors like red for special uses).

I tend to stick with single-cell flashlights for EDC use, and IMO Surefire's single cell LED lights aren't that great. Too long, too bezel heavy, not enough modes, etc.

Thanks for all the recommendations, I think I'll get the P1D CE, and consider the G2, 6P, or maybe A2 for later on. I just wonder if I should wait for the version of the P1D CE with the clickie tail cap. Hmm.

the clickie tailcap is an optional thing to add to a std P1D-CE, they dont come with them AFAIK, the guy told me they would be available in about 3 weeks.

i bet ya like it, i was at batteries plus tuesday and showed mine to a guy who worked there, he wanted to know where to buy one, and was showing it to 2 other guys who worked there, they all thought it rocked.

I own a old 6p, and a Z2 ive had and used everyday at work for the last 6-7 years. the Z2 was set down and accidently activated with the bezle down and it got so hot it melted the lens of the light....other than that incident which was my own fault, I highly recommend sure fire products. Oh ya I also have an old 8X recharcable model that i've had since 1996.

i melted the lens in a Z3 like that, SF sent me a new one for free within a week of contacting them.

SF may be high $$ but the CS is 2nd to none imho.

I have a Fenix L2P with a spare L1P body so I can use either. I know they are the older models but it was 45$ canadian shipped for both.
They should be here tomorow(please please let it get here tomorow) and I will do a mini review.
The guy I got them from goes by Subzero on CGN.

I've owned several lights in my day. I currently only own a SF L5 an SF M6.
I used to have 2 M-6's and a few others. I highly recommend The L5 I know they aren't cheap but you wont have to ever worry about bulbs again, It's plenty bright. I use the M6 when I really need to flood an area with light. Makes me comfortable when I think someone might be out there in the woods after dark. Even more comfortable than my glock makes me feel, imagine that. Anyway www.candlepowerforums.com may help you or completely discourage you with all the technobable, good luck.

What do you want to use it for?

I use my mag LED 2aa more than my other flashlights now. Its metal not cheap plastic. Even in the UK theyre cheap and theyre plenty bright enough for most uses. Theyre bigger than a 6p but probably not much bigger than the surefire LED models and they use cheap batteries!

if ya need a dimmer light that would work. of course comparing a "AA" mini mag and a surefire is certainly apples/oranges, sure they are both flaslights, but thats about it, and the fenix P1D wayy outclasses a mini mag, a fenix L1T would be sorta comparable to a mini mag but is a lot better/smaller light and only uses 1 cheap batt vs 2, isnt much higher either.

i just feel the fenix P1D (and really the L1T too) so far outclass the minimags that i cant see why ya would want one unless ya just dont wanna spend the $$,

You may well be right, I cant comment on the fenix we dont really get them over here...i've never seen one

Everyone talks about them though so they must be good!

Its metal not cheap plastic.

I hope you're not insinuating that the polymer body some of the SureFires have is "cheap"...

I also haven't noticed any dimming with my G2 when the batteries start to go, but since I have only replaced them one time I may have not noticed. one second it worked, the next it didn't. Up until that point I had no idea the batteries were dying though.
