What takes Kershaw so long??

To the OP, it seems that Kai and ETA threads will be a bit of a lightning rod round these parts.

Tried to explain our perspective on the subject over the last few days. You'll see a few of those responses up in post #10.

Hopefully that helps with understanding.

I think all of this whining really just shows how much we want our 0562s in our hands. MAN do I want to have an 0562CF already. Shot show announcements are just torture.

With KAI you never know when (sometimes if) prototypes shown at various shows will show up for sale and the features may not match the prototype exactly. On the other hand, they'll release enhancements or tweaked models unannounced. For instance, the newer 0300 series and the various black-bladed or BlackWashed models.

As others have mentioned, a loose and general time-frame of 6-9 months, from announcement, for brand new designs of regular production models seems about right!

Truth! I've already seen a few blackwashed Blurs on da bay, as well as Leeks and Whirlwinds.

This seems to be standard in the knife industry. Other brands have done the same thing- announce a knife model and then it can be a very long time before they actually ship. It doesn't have to be this way, it's just they way that they do it. I've noticed that some firearm companies announce a new model and it is just a matter of days before you can find it at bigger dealers.

First off, this thread is not a "bashing" of Kershaw, and is not meant to spin anyone up. I'm asking this out of curiosity.

The unfortunate thing is that all recent KAI themed threads have to start with this white flag of surrender before they even start.

Regardless of how long it takes, I can't wait for the new Emerson's from Kershaw. Some of the only cheap knives I'm interested in right now. I think they should sell well for them, they're up for pre-order on BladeHQ right now.

You are so good about making these threads about me and not the topic.

To me, it's the other way around. You do a good job of turning plenty of these KAI threads into disrespectful shouting matches because others don't see it the way you do and in effect make them about YOU and what you think everyone's opinions should be regarding the brand.

Stay on topic or don't post. I would avoid making other members the focus for comment.

My apologies Morrow but I have grown weary of how he treats forum members when the topic is regarding KAI. Perhaps a look at his post history will show what I'm saying and something can be done about it? He's gotten better at veiling his agenda since people started calling him out on it but I believe that his interactions with members are a detriment to BF and KAI.

And this is why I rarely start threads, and hardly ever comment on others. Thanks for the ones who provided helpful information.

Don't be discouraged, he does this all the time. That's his problem, I read your OP and you didn't say anything wrong and was clear and respectful. Perhaps the worst thing you did was to be ignorant of why some knives take so long that has been discussed before BUT YOU DID NOT DESERVE THAT TREATMENT for asking a question. You didn't know...a little polite comment could have sent you on your way.

Exactly. In this case, instead of viewing these questions negatively, why not look at it as a positive thing that many people are eager to see these knives come out? That's a very good thing. Why catch feelings over this? I seriously doubt that people have questions about the delayed release just to hate on KAI. Misery loves company and the negativity on these threads and the defunct subforum comes right back to them. That's what you give, that's what you get.

I <3 Stays Sharp!!!

Always telling it how it is! Preach away!:thumbup::thumbup:

Sincerely, from a silent but active lurker :D

Maybe if benchmade had debuted the 0300 ball flipper before shipping them to dealers, they could have corrected the cheeseburger handles instead of waiting a year.

I like cheeseburgers, especially with bacon, crunchy bacon

Nonsense, his posts are on-topic you just don't agree. Put him on ignore if you don't like what he's saying.

I don't see any reason to do anything about his posts. Again, they are on-topic. The ignore function is your friend.

I do agree his initial comments were a little sharp but if people are that sensitive on an internet forum maybe it's time to head over the Sesame Street forum.

My comments are in red.

Now, please listen. You'll get no more informal warnings about your comments about other members. If you have a problem with a post, report it and the mods will take a look. If you choose to post off-topic comments about other members again, you will start collecting points.

My feelings were far from "hurt", I'm not the sensitive type. I'm on this site daily, a lurker mostly. Everyday I see a question asked and people get very defensive, and then go on the offensive. That is what I meant in my previous comments. I asked the original question more out of eagerness, I'm an impatient person by nature and I'm pumped to get my hands on an Emerson kershaw and zt. Plus, I never liked Sesame Street.

Come on...everyone likes Sesame Street. :)

I'm impatient too and completely understand getting excited about an upcoming knife releases. This is especially true after seeing the new models Kai has planned.

Your question was completely legit. Some topics get a lot of play, or replay I should say....just part of the forum scene. Some people will search before asking questions, other don't. It's all good.

Im really looking forward to this folder, but I think they should take their time to put out the best product possible. As long as it doesnt go the way of the ESEE folder ;)

I second that notion! I'm getting a CQC-5K immediately upon release. If it's done right it'll become the Rat Model 2 of tactical blades.

I'm really looking forward to the Kershaw/Emerson collaborations, at the prices we are seeing I'll probably get 2 or 3 of different sizes and styles.

Kershaw I think is one of the best all around brands for product selection and variety and value for the price points they occupy. I understand that there once was a brand specific forum on here but no more. Sadly, from some of the official rep's posts on various archived threads, I was pretty shocked to see an official rep of a legitimate company act the way theirs did. Seems they made some poor choices in their social media public relations hiring.

Blade is about a month away.I enjoy seeing a sneak peek at future models from blade and Shot shows. It kind of keeps me focused and gives an imprint in my mind what models I may be interested in down the line.It gives me time to save and reminds me not to blow too much dough on models that just pop up or are impulse purchases.Good things come with patience and time. Being able to pull the trigger(funds available) on a model that I anticipated and saved for is quite gratifying. There are models that are not yet in production of may never be produced that are must-haves if and when they are released.I will enjoy the knives that I currently own and patiently wait locked and loaded for the anticipated must-have models to release into the wild.....The only Kai model that comes to my mind as a must-have is the 0454......
peace,
salmonkiller
