What tasks do you use your knife the most for?

Primarily wood cutting for fire (batoning, chopping large to small branches), cleaning fish if i cant find the fillet knife, and cutting line.

clearing brush and limbs from in front of me so i can get thru the darkest of the hill side thickets here in BC.

Arn't 3 a little big for your backpack? I find dehydrated or partially prepared rations much more convenient. Self saucing puddings are a treat

And remember the minimal impact bush code => if you pack it in you have to pack it out again

1. Actually I have a very large pack so it's not a big issue

2. Convenience is not part of why I spend time in the bush, so no problem there either.

3. I don't think this applies to biodegradables.

I wonder...how long after a person dies are communicable diseases not a concern though?!

Dale that is an exceedingly difficult question for me to answer in just "one way". I guess for me it depends on what time of year it is...on the boat, I will be cleaning fresh walleye. In the woods, chopping/batoning up some stuff and whittling wood, making fires and fuzz sticks. In the early to late fall...gutting deer. :D Every day? Well everything I can use a knife on I will.

food prep seems to be the most for me.

Then cutting cordage or sticks or other camp set up and operation (like kids games and stuff, or shaping stakes)

General wood craft comes next

My daily hikes I do more trail maintenance than anything nowdays.
