So I’ve acquired some A-2, sounds great right!?! It’s a hunk of 4 inch round bar about 18 inches long! What the heck should I do with it ? Ideas?

Cut off 1/2" thick slices, cut them in half. and forge all sorts of stuff from them.

Or, make an A-2 post anvil.

Stacy E. Apelt - Bladesmith Stacy E. Apelt - Bladesmith I wasn’t real sure how well a-2 could be forged. Just cause it’s air hardening I was worried about trying to forge a knife from it.

I have a real anvil and a sorta post anvil (heavy mainline railroad track sitting on end) with a bar of 4140 welded to/beside it. Not sure I need another one lol

POST ANVIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's about 64 lbs.... Find out how much shipping is to Nova Scotia!

I would do a charcoal fire HT on that and make a hardened post anvi with a nice wooden base.

sell on eBay or CraigsList and use the money to have a shopping spree at AKS or NJSteel. Unless you have a big metal bandsaw, hard to make anything with it. Heck, couldn't even cut it with a cutting wheel.

Rick Marchand Rick Marchand I’ll mail it to ya!

I’m liking the post anvil idea. Guess a man can never have too many anvils around right!?

I have access to a big saw at work. I can cut it up any way I’d like so that isn’t a problem.
