"What the heck is a manaresso?"

The manaresso is a pretty distinct classification that is mostly different from goloks etc. The Giustina pattern is sort of golok-like but most manaressi are more similar to classical cleavers and billhooks. Here are a few models by Rinaldi as an example, as well as ones by Angelo B. and Falci. (Ignore the Falci #133--it's not a manaresso.)

Seems so, but since the Giustina was one that was the video was showing, not the more cleaver like ones, that is why I responded to the guy who said he wondered what the pattern was.

I like to ending. I really liked the looks of those when I saw them on your site. What's the little thing on the bottom of the big one for?

Hahaha--dual wielding them to deanimate the pumpkin was fun. :D

I'm not sure what you're talking about with the "little thing" though? Do you mean the metal hook that's on the butt of the handle on both of them? If so, that's to keep your hand from slipping off. Allows you to use a very relaxed grip.

I only saw it on the one of them ... Makes sense though. Thanks!

Both of these have them, but not all manaressi do. Others just have a large flat washer on the bottom that the tang gets peened over onto. :)
