I can help you a little here.
"white metal" (modern terminology): 92 Sn - 8 Sb
Commonly used in our business for casting costume jewelry items. Casting temp. is 600 - 625o . Can be centrifugally cast into vulcanized rubber molds or "slush" cast (hollow) cast as well. The upshot: add Cu (and sometimes Pb and or Bi as well....) and you've got pewter and as several here have said; a better choice. Perhaps long ago the two terms were easily interchangeable.
"spelter solder" (the only use of it I've found of that word in my library..)
An alloy of Cu and zinc in about equal proportions. Yellow in color, used to join copper, brass or bronze pieces togather. Use the same fluxes used for (sterling) silver solder work.
An excellent place to get first rate ready to use pewter is Rio Grande Supply in Albuquerque NM.
