What the heck is this knife for? Butter?

I thought the unfortunate gigantic wording down the entire blade was the ridiculous part, but then I saw the price. :D

It's pretty cool though. Now I want to make some sandwich knives. o_O

How might I get myself on the list to be a recipient of said "Mecha Sandwich Slayer" pieces?

Was gonna buy a gun this year, but to hell with that... Mad Science Forge PBJ Killer FTW!

Better than a Ham Samwich with Tom Mayo, I tell you what.

All I can say is that it is a brilliant spot, OP! Just what the doctor ordered for a freezing Saturday in February. I keep going back to the photo for a giggle.

God knows what they were thinking. I’d love to know who actually buys this stuff... o_O

In its full glory...

I’m just an ‘umble squaddie in Her Majesty’s armed forces. And when I’m out on patrol in the mountains, I like to wear a massive tactical butter knife, displayed on a plinth, attached to my helmet.

Youve made my day:thumbsup::D

I checked the bay and the last sale was to a German who paid $180 US for it (!)

At this point I'm holding out for an OTF version... Unless Massdrop does a run.

I thought looked like an amputation knife, at first. Like this.

Maybe for the British market that has had and continue to have parliamentary discussions about banning kitchen knives. They quickly found it's the preferred knife to commit violent crimes, although they were told that fact before they barred pocket knives.

Well, without getting into our domestic politics, that is true, but some context and framing is missing.

It is true that every so often, there is a lobby here, comprising partly of jaded A&E doctors and trauma surgeons, who find malleable MP’s to trumpet for an end to pointy knives etc. The thing is, it is doomed to failure. The ‘slippery slope/thin end of the wedge’ argument is always attractive, but it is fallacious nonetheless. Just because we have to carry slip joints <3” usually, does not mean that knives are going to be banned, nor will the points be removed.

I’ve dealt with stabbings as a paramedic that were done with a screwdriver. Many MP’s are easily led and not very bright. I wouldn’t lose any sleep over it.

As long as you're aware that it would be 3 feet long. o_O

When I saw the photo of the knife my first thought was finally a N.Y. state legal knife.
:p

Ahh yes, gotta love all the political discussion in GKD... As if we don't all have a drawer full of dull knives with rounded tips in our kitchen. These are just slightly more expensive versions.

Yep, I that's what I was alluding to.
Actually your post had me looking on the periodic table and googling what alloys were used and it's really interesting... Silver was often part of it for its antibiotic properties but even more inte is the element Tantalum which is 2 under Vanadium.
I'm sure there's a reason we don't see Tantalum being used like vanadium or niobium but it goes (vertically down the table from top to bottom) Vanadium, and then niobium, and then Tantalum.
Based on the we know about the former 2, Tantalum looks like it should have some usefullnes.
Also surprisingly to me at least was that there was a fair amount of cobalt used too. I am not surprised that they used it per se, but I but I didn't think they had the working knowledge or setup to incorporate cobalt, but from the little I know I thought it needed to be formed under vacuum and other complex processes.

Well this led to some interesting things. Gotta ask knife nerd about tantalum.

a titanium sandwich knife...yep. never have to rinse acidic and corrosive residue off between constant sandwich eatings. just leave on the counter for my next sandwich butchering. I'm into this lower maintenance sandwich knife.
