And for reference, here is a collection of 19th-Century naval dirks. Single edged, double-edged, straight-bladed and curved dirks.
 
I am really pleased to know what a Dirk is !!
Oklahoma Statute 21-1272 states: "Carrying weapons. It shall be unlawful for any person to carry on or about his person, or in his portfolio or purse, any bowie, DIRK, switchblade, spring-styled knife, sword cane or knife that opens automatically by hand pressure applied to a button, spring or other device in the handle of the knife.
Provided further that this section shall not prohibit the proper use of guns or knives for hunting, fishing or recreational purposes."
