What the latest about Kizer knives?

That Darn BladeHQ sale just forced me against my will to purchase my tenth Kizer!

Kizer is hard to beat in terms of materials, fit, finish, design and cost although it's seemed that the price on most of their knives tended to edge upward over the last year. Some of the newly revealed collaborations break the previous high MSRP limit for Kizer models.

I really like all my Kizers, although I have favorites from a functionality and ergonomic standpoint. You can't go wrong with any of their knives, especially with the current price on some of the close-outs. It looks like their web site is back up now too...although I've noticed discrepancies between the actual items and the pictures or descriptions.

If you're still resisting a Kizer based on where they're made then it's entirely your loss. Foreign built knife using American materials or American built knife using foreign materials...is there a difference?

Ive got 2 kizers, like said above they are hard to beat for the money. And ive seen them on the exchange for even more insane prices. s35vn,multicolor ti for 86.00 ? Cant beat that !

There is a saying that "if something is too good to be true, it probably isn't true." I worry this might apply to Kizer and S35V.

Here is an interesting review on Youtube.

Couldnt watch past the point he stated that the blade was off center. I will never in my life understand why someone would look anywhere but the tip of the blade when judging centering on a frame or liner lock knife. If you check your centering anywhere besides the tip area you are bound to get disappointed. If you look in the video at the tip of the blade its hard to ask for a more centered blade. I have a feeling he was looking at the larger gap on the right side and then comparing it to the lock side. But your lock side will ALWAYS have a smaller gap because the lockbar is bent towards the blade and the detent is sittine in a hole in the blade allowing it to sit flush to the blade. Its an optical illusion that makes people think they have an off center blade but all you have to do is look at the tip.

He said he was being super picky. Go toward the end and see the spot on the blade. Overall I thought he was pretty complementary. How do you like Kizer? There seems to be a big sale on them at BladeHQ. They are also getting rid of some ZT's at low prices.

I ended up fast forwarding to that part. Im. Still not convinced that isnt just some shmutz on the blade. I have had resins and glue for what would be no apparent reason and you need some solvent to know for sure. Still i dont think the off center blade was him being picky. I simply dont think he knows how to properly evaluate such a thing.

As for me I am personally not sold on kizer yet. I like some of the designs but nothing so much that i would spend my money on it. I probably would own one if i could get a response from a company rep as to which models have bearings. That is propably why i am so reluctant. I dont buy washer knives. And i cant get anyone there to tell me which models for sure have bearings. I have seen a couple on person and they seem decent from what i could tell. But they need to update their site and knife specs before i am going to bite. Though i will be getting a cucchiara design when the skully dorados are back in stock.

They're really bad with providing detailed information on their website, but in regards to which models runs on bearings, they answered that to me a couple months ago. Ki4421A1, Ki4421A2, Ki423, and Ki4431T. That was before the Cucchiara collabs came out. Those, except the Cucchiara ones, should be IKBS from the information they provided.

Thank you.

Kizer.

There's a handful on non-flippers, like the 4403 series and the 5414A3. They all are fantastic. My only complaint has always been the fact that early on they only made their knives tip down, but they seem to be correcting that lately.

As someone who very unfortunately carries soley and strictly tip-down, I think there is nothing to "complain" when a folder seldomly is delivered tip-down only. It is very frustrating now and then to be a tip-down knife nut like me: so many awesome knives that I cannot carry. Even more frustrating when companies change from four-way to tip-up only (ZT!?) or in the case of Kizer form tip-down to tip-up. I think you tip-up guys have nothing to complain, since 95% of the folders are already offered tip-up :( Emailed Kizer (Reate and others too) once if they could drill some extra holes for me for tip-down carry, but they couldn't :(
