The whole pricing thing doesn't sit well with me. Being an official HOG is a kewl deal if you can manage it, but it ends up being a little arbitrary. I have spoken to the man, but he wasn't at Easton, so I didn't have an opportunity to shake his hand.

I'm the opposite. I likely will never burn the money to travel to a knife show...can't justify it with all the other obligations / hobbies I have. This means I have to live with not being a HOG....it's a life choice on my part :D

Given that...I'm proud to send a few extra dollars towards Busse so they can hire fine people like Amy-O and Lexi to provide phenomenal service. What's $10-$40 in the grand scheme? I mean...it's a MUK!!!!

If it's a user...G-10 is out...so we're talking a mere 3-4% premium for canvas. I'll take $10 anyday over the expense of flying to Blade. This is a great deal for EVERYONE!! With a small added bonus to the guys lucky enough to have been inducted by the Boss.
 
Black paper or canvas? What do you guys think? I like the G10, but think I will go for a micarta Muk.

I'm thinking one of each black paper and black canvas but if I were only to get one it would be black paper.:cool::thumbup:

Black paper is buttery smooth and canvas is still "soft" but has canvas fibers that help a little with grip. Both are great IMO but black paper just looks classy. :cool:

G10 is a glass epoxy laminate, Micarta is also an epoxy laminate, but with paper, linen or canvas as the substrate material. They can have a different look and feel from G10.

You can check out the wikipedia pages for each, kind of informative. G10 is also called FR-4 (NEMA grade designation).

Nice. Thanks. Times are tight right now, but a couple of weeks ago, I decided that I would have to buy a Muk whenever they came out. Well. Better start putting aside some duckets.

I think black paper may be the way to go.
