Blade can't get here fast enough.

I think it is a subframe lockbar for something amazing.

...or Kershaw is finally making a new boat knife/marlin spike.

I feel like that indent is kind of a give away. It has to be some kind of locking system.

This is my thought to. The way it's cut through and indented in, looks like a sliding lock button.

Also the indent is right about a cut out that looks like a pretty nice spot for you index finger. If you look at it like that a blade would fold up quite nicely into it.

maybe the three holes mount onto another piece of the handle, and the rest is an exposed sub-frame lock.... i don't have any ideas for what the slot is at the other end of the piece may be for

My thoughts were that that area down there was just to hold on for grinding and such, I assume that will be something that is eventually cut off?

I was thinking that those three holes were pretty small for purely mounting purposes, they look to be about the size of the small body screws kershaw uses

My best guess would be the sub-frame lock for a knife that is not the Knock Out.

Whatever it is there was a lot of machining going on there.

Yea, looking at the pictures again it'd be an awful small knife if it was how I was thinking. I'm going with the guys that said subframe lock now.
