What To Bring To Work?

I've never been a wielder or even worked with one, but based on the other responces and what I imagine you might encounter,
I'd suggest you pony up a few bucks and buy either an ESEE Izula or an ESEE 3. Tough as hell. Nothing to mess up,
and we all know they will fix/replace it no matter what you do to it.
Good luck on the new job. Stay safe and hope it goes well.

there's a big difference between 'welders' and 'welder fitter'. either can be dirty and dusty. i agree with everyone that says bring something you don't mind trashing.

Bring a box cutter for all the dirty work then bring whatever else for light duty, fondeling and showing off.

Alright Op, what did you decide? What did you eventually bring to work? The suspense is killing me!! :barf:

Alright, so I ended up going with the 0560 and brought the SMF as back up just incase the bearings on the 0560 get full of gunk. I personally love ZT's and know they have a great warranty as well.

The biggest deciding factor between that and the SMF (which seemed to be the 2 favorites) was that the cost of the ZT is almost half that of the Strider.

Thanks a lot everyone, you were a real help. And it was interesting to get to know some of your opinions on the trades.

P.S. John_0917 A superintendent with the boilermakers Union can make upwards of $100/hr. They perform next to no physical labor, and have almost no physical strain put on their bodies.Though the stress is high, much like being I don't know, and attorney. And this is a stepping stone so I can earn some money for a degree in chemical engineering. How about you don't judge people on the Internet like you know who they really are.

Also, on my first day of the job, I noticed that my superintendent had a Buck 110 in a leather sheath.

I was like "F*ck ya!"

Doesn't surprise me a bit. Cool!

Ya, the problem some get into is getting their well paying physical job and stopping there. There is usually a route to something better within if you look for it. Machinists make good engineers, yadda. Once you're employed see if your company will pay part of tuition.

For a while I was taking one college course per semester. You can do that and still have one day totally free every weekend. (I should never have stopped)

Excellent Decision Making!! I can see that (with your knives) you will go far in life! :)

Haha, thanks Clinto. Next on my list is either an Umnumzaan or a XM-18 if I can find one.
