Anyone have this problem. I own a Paramilitary 2, a zt350, zt301, a sage, a knockout, a leek, and a dragonfly in ZD-189. What do I buy next? To be honest.... The PM2 is my favorite. Just butter. It has really ruined enjoying other knives. Does anyone have any suggestions? I love deep pocket clips and smooth opening. Gotta be fun to play with. Thanks!

Maybe a new Para3? Haven't handled one yet but may be worth a shot! Good luck!

That is the only BM I want to buy right now however do you find a sheep's foot style blade useful for EDC?

I love sheepsfoot/wharncliffe. Awesome utility ability.

As for your next blade? Depends what you're into. I didn't really care for the PM2(I know I'm the minority) but I really love my Ti military! I also really liked my BM 940, and BM531. Might not be up your alley but the spydie szabo is amazing.

You said a knife that's fun to play with... can't beat a BM51 or BRS barebones :D

Thanks for the insight. You are correct those 2 don't do much for me.

See I bought the sage hoping to love the liner lock and I do but it's certainly not as smooth as my PM2. I'm sure yours is like butter.

My sage 1 would benefit from a little chamfering to the thumb hole. It's like the Geico commercial. Got a dollar. Oh missed it by that much.

Either get an Emerson if you are into that. That is if you want to experience a knife with a new type of feel you have not experienced. It is a rugged type of tool knife feel that just feels bombproof in your hand. If you like the g10 build of your PM2 then imagine it like this. If your PM2 is a refined Cadillac then the Emerson is a 67 Camaro muscle car.

Or if you like the titanium style of your ZTs then pull the trigger and get a Sebenza or an Inkosi. You'll end up wanting one eventually...might as well get it over with.

Have you tried an AXIS lock knife? You don't get much more fun than that. My personal favorite model is the 950 Rift. But if you're into higher end steel they only come in 154CM though I'm still waiting on an M390 version. They have been made in CPM-M4 but impossible to find. You could get a Ritter Grip in M390 as they are discontinued and on the way out.

Or you could get a ZT besides a 350 or 301 which I believe are both assisted openers and by far my least favorite. A manual flipper on bearings is pretty fun and M390 and CF would be icing on the cake. If not ZT, another flipper on bearings would be nice if you want to get away from ZT for some reason, this type of knife is very popular right now. I also really suggest a Reate Horizon D or a Wave depending what size you like.

You could try a Spyderco Domino for that flipper, bearings, Ti frame lock combo that is so popular. The Sage 5 has the same compression lock as the PM2. Or a Manix 2 with the caged ball bearing lock. Similar to the AXIS lock but a bit stiffer and not as fun to use but still pretty great and stronger than the average folder lock. A Manix 2 lightweight in S110V or Maxamet if you want to try a super steel that's at the top of the production knife edge holding food chain.

Some people also find an Emerson Wave feature pretty fun though it's not something you can sit in front of the TV and absent mindedly use. I've never owned one but many don't really like many things about Emerson knives and ZT makes some that many say are much better than the original. They're the ZT 0620 and 0630.

You could also venture into the world of double action Out The Front automatic knives, if you like fun or a knife to tinker with. Slide the button forward and the blade shoots out the front. Pull the button back the opposite direction and the blade shoots back inside the handle. Good fun, but stupid federal laws can make them difficult to buy and carry.

Have you ever tried an opening hole that has a chamfer around the edge? Many don't like them and there is a reason Spyderco never does it. It doesn't grab your finger well and doesn't allow a very great purchase while opening. Is there a reason you don't like it on the Sage but don't mention it as an issue with the PM2?

If you like PM2, get a Manix 2. The S110V version has similar price with the standard PM2.

For a Spyderco I would suggest a Slysz Bowie, uber smooth, though a frame lock may not meet the fun to play with criteria. A bit more expensive but how about a BBS M390 Para 2 and get some custom scales for it.

I agree with FlaMtnBkr's suggestion of a 950 Rift, and I'm really enjoying the Crooked River too.

My favorite ZT is the 0562, with the 0452 close behind.

So much more out there too, but I only suggest the ones I have myself.
Enjoy finding what's right for you :)

try a Manix2 with carbon fiber (or blurple if you like that). its wider in the pocket than the pm2, but the blade profile is nicer imho than the pm2 for different tasks.
im also a fan of most of the ZT lineup. i would recommend trying a ZT. 0562cf and 0804cf are two of my favs.

Might suggest a GB2, mine is still buttery smooth after months in my pocket and it's definitely not babied. It's my go to for when I don't want to muck up one of my more expensive knives.

If you love the PM2 as I do, try one of these:

Chris Reeve Knives small Sebenza 21 or small Inkosi.

I had a large Sebenza 25 for awhile, but eventually sold it and carried some variation of the PM2. Recently acquired a small Inkosi and can't get enough of it. Just a heads up, Reeve knives are not designed to "flick" open, so that can be an adjustment for PM2 fans.

Stay sharp!

Something else crazy about PM2s is how many of them are on the exchange right now. I sold one myself in I think a day and a half, which is a record for me.

Ha that's great guys. I'm rocking my ZT350 today. You can pick them up on Amazon for 90 bucks right now. Which is a pretty good deal.

I carried Sage all weekend and compared the PM2's spyder hole to it and noticed the sharpness is due to the change of height in the blade. In about the middle of the hole it rises a bit in a half circle and that raised profile is what makes it a little sharp.

It's no big deal but def not as sweet as the PM2.

Can't wait to get my hands on a PM3 to check it out.

Someone locally is selling an orange Cutlery Shoppe PM2 with a different steel. Wants 260 which is def not what I want to spend but nice to see something different.

What is everyone carrying today?
