What to buy

I just ordered my first Sebenza. I too had this dilemma, but settled on a large Insingo.
Cheers

I'm glade I'm not debating blade styles. Both the Insingo Sebbie and the Tanto SNG don't really do anything for me. I really want to like the SNG enough to get it, but the concerns about the break in period and customer service are a little worrying.

Bill- I know the Seb can get in there and work hard but I hesitated to do that with mine.
rolf

Why ? They are made for hard work, and can take it. Sebenza is a Zulu word meaning "Work"

I've got a 1999 that I used hard for many years. Looked like crap, but was still as tight as new. Sent it in, and it came back looking like a brand new knife. They will take what you throw at them, and also have a great heat treat.

Kenny- I don't know! That Seb is jest too purdy.
I'm going to steal your's.

So I just watched this:

WTF kind of company is that?

Rolf, if you can find me, come in and take it its yours:D

Yeah, I've got a couple of there purdy models I don't use, but my plain jane models aren't all that purdy really.

Do you want me to find the GB&U thread that Spark started about them:D

This may, or may not matter one bit to you. If you want to read it you can, and take it for what its worth to you.
I know some don't care about the issue at all. I'm not saying anything either way.

I've known that for a while, I've tried not to consider Mick Strider to be the company. That level of Customer Service is pretty bad, though. It's one of the reasons I wish the Buck-Striders were still made.

Just watched the video. Oddly enough, it was at Matt D. Tactical's store that I tried my first Strider today (it's near my house). He is a great guy. As to Striders and warrantee, I'll defer comment due to lack of direct knowledge.

As I said in another post, you have to be discerning in accepting any particular reviewer's commentary. Some seem to always find trouble with their knives, and you don't know if it is the user or the knife. Watch 10 reviews by different people and you will probably get a more accurate sense.

Yeah, I've read a few post about people having a hard time just getting in touch with them. I have never owned one, so I have no first hand experence with their CS. I think I'll go watch the vid you put up.

I've seem too many threads here and too many videos relaying similar experiences.

This is very true, and is why I don't watch many Youtube vids. I've got to know enough people that I trust here that I can PM or call a few if I'm buying a product I've never owned before.

I've PMed one of the large youtube knife reviewers who has a lot of experience with both. He gave me a fairly good response that is really causing me to lean towards a CRK.

I have owned a small sebbie, large sebbie, and a strider SnG. I still own the large sebbie and strider SnG. Sold the small sebbie because I would rather carry something larger (my preference).

I love my CRK's (2 Umnumzaans and a large sebenza) as well as my SnG. Both are great companies IMO. Strider does have a brief "break in" period, but flicking open amd closed for about a week at night while watching TV and now it's broken in and super smooth. I love the looks of CRK, but prefer the ergos on the SnG.

If you are leaning towards CRK---- go for it. But I recommend picking up am SnG down the road soon :D

I am probably going to get the small sebbie. I might sin against the knife world and get a Chinese $20 Strider-clone to get a feel for the design (I'll trash it afterwords). If I like the design, I'll probably forgo purchasing my first handgun and get a SNG.
