what to do after you start the fire?

thanks everyone. i'll try some of the suggestions given, and will do more studying. have some time in a week or so to try them out. thanks again.
 
I haven't had much luck using fluffed oakum. Also, some nice dry tinders I find on location don't always work well. The bundle is the first step so finding something that works well is pretty important.

moose and everyone, now i know how to start the fire. spent some time dong bushclass in that other forum. i started fire with shavings and firesteel. no additional tinders.

the picture is lousy, but if i had a hatfull of shavings and feather sticks, it would have started a good size fire.
