What to do on a lazy wednesday? Throw a pic heavy stripper party of course!

Good stuff.

All polished up and with some custom handles ... NICE !

Inspried me - Some of mine will be getting the same treatment soon.

still haven't seen anyone due a parkerized then ceracoat; or titanium oxide, or hard chrome :)

someday!

Well, we do have a TiN coating setup at work. Problem being, stuff is gold. And I mean really damn shiny gold. One of these days, I'll get a BK-14, strip, polish and TiN coat it and do a giveaway. Wouldn't carry something like this myself :D Good thing is, there's no way in hell it can rust, so you'd be covered on that base :D

Thinking about getting some Cerakote for my BK-7. still not sure.

Great post. Looks like a lot of work, I don't care what anyone says! I still haven't gotten the bug to strip my blades yet, but ya never know...

That was great! Practical question from a newbie to stripping - what's a safe pair of gloves to wear while doing this? Kitchen gloves? Full rubber hazmat? I imagine the cheapie latex or silcon gloves are not heavy enough? I don't want the stuff to eat my hands!

I just grabbed a pair of gloves from the same aisle with all the paint-strippers. The package said something along the lines of designed for use with stripper etc... the are thicker than your average rubber dish gloves.

They worked well but still be mindful of handling the knives too much while the stripper is still on -- I scraped the coating off without rinsing the stripper first and by the second knife my hands started to burn.

I found the Bk-10's performance oscar-worthy, but the Eskabar came across as a bit entitled.

Good stuff! and a fun way to give a bit of a howto.

Latex gloves with the standard kitchen gloves over them, it reeeeeeeeeeally burns!

Side note to self: Knife polishing is not a job I would want to do everyday. Must shop. Need. More. Tools.

another note to self::

Seriously::

if you are buffing knives, PLEASE be EXTREMELY careful you can die behind a buffer... best case scenario, full leather apron, full face mask/shield, leather gloves..

now back to your regular programming.. :)

btw, I like the burn :D

Damn! Glad I checked in over here. Was looking for some info on a magnum camp knife and came across this. Best post I've seen in a while. Thanks for taking the time. Excellent looking tooling on the holster btw. I know how difficult that can be especially covering a lot of leather with such a small stamp. Looks like an old pre lock model 66 no? Love mine!

Toasted toads truth right there. Learned that years ago before my grey matter solidified into something useful. Still have a scar on the ribcage right below the old blood pump. It would be just my luck to brain myself with a machax.:D
