What to do? Opinions needed.

I'm in the "just sharpen it" camp. I'd let the maker/seller know, so that they can improve, but a ding in a blade edge is like dust on the sole of a shoe to me. The more you demand perfection, the less you will find it, and the less satisfying everything will be.

Thanks for all of the input. I did talk to the distributor and they were very responsive and sent an RMA. I think in the end I am just going to keep it and use it.

If you plan on using the knife soon use it until it needs to be sharpened. I don't think those dings will do anything bad for bushcraft work.
Personally I don't see the point in carrying a $300.00 knife for Bushcraft purposes.

It's more of an all around outdoor fixed blade for me. I am into decent quality stuff and I think a knife is made to use and not sit in a safe or box... not that I have anything against that, it's just not me. Hell I carry a Benchmade 940 to cut open letters and boxes. Lol

If you bought it direct from the maker - make him aware, then go from there with consideration of your plans for the knife. Personally, unless I - or the maker - felt that the "dings" would impact the function or stability of the edge, I would use it until it needs sharpening. By corresponding with the maker first, you should be covered if there is a problem that manifests in early usage...if you don't make him aware, and there is a failure, it could be blamed on "abuse".

Come on, emjay, live alittle.

There's a great deal of choices out there in the +/- $300 camp that are awesome.

I completely agree with you but I wouldn't use it for Bushcraft. Today I carried a ZT 0562 CF M390 and to keep it company I had the 0452 CF with it and I always carry a small fixed knife and today it was my LT Wright Frontier Valley in M390. I am very familiar with higher end knives but when I go camping I carry my Esee Zancudo and my Esee 6P. I can beat the heck out of them and not care, they are inexpensive and made to take a lickin.
So as you see I like to carry expensive knives but I rather EDC them than beat them. I love knife collecting but I like to treat the expensive ones gingerly. I also have Safe Queens for investment such as the Kershaw Tilt.
I would be crazy to carry that around.

If you have the equipment and the ability to do a Class-A job in sharpening this knife, then you might keep it.
However, you say you are new to this forum, and perhaps you don't have a lot of experience in sharpening this steel.
You would be BEST OFF, IMO, if you sent it back. There is NO excuse for a NIB $300 knife to look like this.
