If your me you make some sort of blade 😁
I found what used to be an old 6" Nicholson in my yard yesterday, and made a 1hr project out of it today. The results are a 4-5/8" kiridashi to put in my toolbox, it's not perfect but it will certainly work.

I hope you guys like it, and maybe it will inspire some of you to try the same thing
( all I used was a torch, single cut mill bastard , drill, and sharpening stones )

I’m in formation with you Brother.

Those curved files used to be straight until I heated them, bent them and rehardened and tempered.

The half finished wood working plane blade used to be an old scrap yard file; until the angle grinder got to it.

And last but not least a woodworking layout knife. Hollow flat back ala Japanese tools, mirror polished both sides of the chisel grind. I left a portion of the file teeth on for grip.

For laying out knifed precision layout lines for large joints like these.

No, I am sure there is plenty that you do that I would botch. I guess I get over anxious to post my wood working partly because I am so enthusiastic about hand tool woodworking as a personal fascination (it seems to be dying out so I hope to get others to carry it on) and since I was such a sucky woodworker, even with power tools, for most of my life . . . after having finally got a handle on how to do it after much banging my head up against it I tend to over do it in my posts.

The hand tool forums have pretty much died out and since I was all about the sharpening aspect of it and secondarily about the home made tools I hang out over here with all of you lovely people who share my interest in very sharp things.

I also love traditional tools, though I don't have any woodworking tools other than a few of my grandpa's saws and some rasps ( I was given an old Stanley plane as a kid, but the blade was dullard I screwed it up )
As far as things that I may do better, I don't want to show you up so I'll forgo pictures 😁

Well OK. Thanks for not showing me up but if you decide to change your mind I am sure we will enjoy seeing.
