What to do when you get the Grail of Grails, Frank Fischer Battle

I just pretend like Todds and Franks knives don't exist, like you said they are impossible to get. The Archangel is my absolute Grail but that will probably change soon as that isa pointless pursuit. Sweeeeeet piece though.

So, I'm confused, are you Frank? Because if not, then you must be on his payroll in his PR department. :p

Also, congrats on the knife. Terrible grind (regardless of Frank's explanation) but hey, the gold damascus is sweet.

I get my custom archangel Tuesday, it just happened my spot on the books came up the same time. I'll post some AA pics when I get it. Don't give up bro, I waited years to get these, it can happen :).

Congrats, that is an exceptional piece of work, enjoy it.

As for the grind, I am sure it has it's positives and negatives just like any other grind.

There will be another grail in your sights soon enough, but when you get your hands on something like that, keep it.

Thanks bro! I'm not letting this go. I bought a pelican case just for it and the upcoming archangel. Thanks everyone for the kind words👍

No worries, it's hard to understand the blade if you have never had a chance to use it. I'm lucky enough to own it and be able to do what I want with it. No offense, but it's hard to say something is not useable without owning one. I also wouldn't of spent that much on a knife just for looks, even if I'm a collector. Everyone that has had a Battle regard it as the best knife they own, and not once has there been a complaint on the blade geometry.

Well thats not totally true. There have been a few guys that don't even attempt to sharpen a recurve that extreme. But other than that NOBODY I know of who owns one has any other complaints.

Congrats again brother!!

I just had frank make the blade a little more gold, wow. I'm speechless

I always knew Frank had the "Midas touch" with knives. But hell, I never thought it LITERALLY!!!!
Are you gonna make it a user now?

@northernsouthpaw @peak_oil

This is going in the safe. I'll get another Battle for a user. I love this knife.

Pittknife, this illustrious maker resides in the Burgh? You mention casually how you just had him make it more gold, pretty cool.

@crom, I went to Florida and the Bahamas in vacation for this month. Frank is in Florida and about 45 mins from our beach house. I wanted the blade a little more gold and he was nice enough to make it happen :). And no, I'm not looking forward to going back to Pittsburgh snow after being down here a month.

Oh I saw this on IG the other day and wondered who the lucky owner was... I do agree that the blade shape is not my cup of tea BUT there's no denying that Frank makes a hell of a knife. You can't deny the quality!

If BladeHQ starts carrying those they'll have to add a couple of new filter options: Beautiful and Anti-Tank.

congrats on the hobby killer! looks amazing. I could see it taking the wind out of my sails for a bit too.

Thanks everyone!

It was a little rough this week. I lost franks auction for his new design. I got out bid by a couple private bidders. Then yesterday I lost both auctions for the open bid TKI southard & Carey's.

But took out the battle and it was all good again, might even be getting another fischer :)

The #nffauction2 on IG?

I was tempted, but I'm not ready to play on that level yet. Amazing design though!

No this was custom made for me. its a battle XL 2nd gen. Frank doesn't take orders for XLs, they cause him too much of a headache. If you are lucky enough to be on his books and can convince him to make you one, its more than worth it. It took him about a month to make this knife because of all the things I wanted.

*The NFF is by Stan Wilson, which luckily Stan will be making mine soon. It's going to be insane, more gold, timascus, zirc, damascus!
