What to do with a counterfeit knife?

I like the idea of keeping it around as a loaner. I think I'll drop it in the junk drawer at the break room of my workplace. They are a weapon-y people so it won't raise eyebrows. And when they ask to borrow my knife, I won't have to hand over my beloved.

I don't have the knowledge to tell you if it's fake or not, but I looked at the pics anyway, and it looks like it'd be a fine beater/loaner. I think you have the right idea about keeping it around for just such purposes. As was said, no reason to destroy it unless you think it's unsafe for some reason.

Can't you return it to...or delete delete delete...the guy who sold it to you?

I'm not a Case collector, the ones I've got are all modern production. So I can't tell if it's a fake or not from the pictures.

In your situation, I'd try to return it to the seller and ask for a refund.

^ + 1 but if that doesn't work I would keep it as a reminder of a truly good life experience maybe make a necklace out of it :D

I posted in the thread with pictures, I've seen a few of these and although I'm no end-all expert, I believe it is authentic, with some modifications.

Thank you for posting the pictures in the other thread.

Lets assume that it is an original case knife that has altered stampings. As long as it is a Case knife it is a well made knife, and since it has zero collector value, you won't feel bad about using it.

I got stuck on a counterfeit Remington at a gun show - so I beat it up at Church camp and eventually lost it In the creek - no loss! I'm lots more careful now - good luck -
