That's a good suggestion. Occasionaly someone posts up here they are wanting to start sharpening on a belt sander. This method definately requires some practice before attempting a quality blade.
That's exactly what I did. I used some S&Ws as practice before flat-grinding my Delica.
After having a Kershaw, Benchmade, and 2 Spydercos, I will never buy one of those junk knives again. For the money I wasted on all those cheap knives, I could have bought a really nice Kershaw.
I feel the same way. I bought a Gerber Paraframe II for $25, two S&W tantos for $10 each, and then a S&W... some bigger folder... for $16. There's the money for a Kershaw OD-1, Zing or a FFG Delica =\
