What to do with some nice Cherry??

Hello Gents (and Ladies if ye' be one)... I have a BUNCH of nice, relatively straight grain Cherry blocks that I don't know what to do with. I'm wondering if they would be anything that some of you makers would be interested in having? Maybe there's not much call for it, but I thought I'd ask.

I happen to live next door to a high-dollar, high-quality furniture maker who turns out some beautiful stuff. He's kindly given me access to his "scrap pile" of cuttings before he throws them into the wood stove:eek:. He uses primarily, Cherry, Oak, Maple, Figured Maple, and a few other woods and I just HATE to see some of it go to the flames. Kills me to see birds eye and fiddle back go into a stove!

All the woods are kiln dried long ago.
If someone could use some of this stuff, I'd gladly send it out for the actual shipping costs.

I'm not sure how much of this stuff I'll find in his scrap box (a box about 5 feet tall, by 3 feet square, FULL of this kind of stuff), so I'll offer it out as I find it, first come, first served.

I been "leechin'" off these forums for a long time and I really want to give something back if I can. PM me if anyone is interested.

Here are a couple pics of what the Cherry looks like. These blocks are about 1.5 inches wide, by 1.25 thick and run from about 8 to 10 inches long. I'm finding some pieces larger... and some pieces smaller... this box of scrap "is like a box of chocolate... Ya' never know what yer' gonna' get!"

I'd be more than happy to take some of it of your hands :D

Hi Fletch Helical,
I hope you won't mind if I send just two blocks for now. If you need more later, let me know.

I'm trying to serve as many who want them as possible.

I'll pick out a couple blocks (let me know if you have any particular size in mind and I'll see what I can find for you), then I'll box them up, figure out the shipping costs, and send them your way.

I'll need your mailing address, and I'd prefer PayPal if you can, to take care of the shipping cost that way.

Get back to me, and I'll git' 'er done for ya'!

Best,
Tim

Anything in the 1.25"+ plus in width and thickness would be great. As far as length goes I'd say anything over 4.5-5" would work too. The longer the better though. I'll take whatever you can spare, I'm currently in a mode where I'm gobbling up blocks of wood like Pac-Man :D. Something seems to be compelling me to stock up on as much wood as I can.

Pay Pal works fine for me, I was going to email you through your profile but the option to send you an email isn't listed in there. If you want click on my user name and send me an email and I'll get the info to you. Or whatever works for you. I'm not overly keen on putting my email on a forum, I did it once or twice on other forums and the amount of spam email skyrocketed shortly after.

If you get some of the Birdseye or some of the Fiddleback I would love to have some of that. You are very generous to do this for everyone.

So far I'm not finding much for figured maple blocks but I have found some pieces which would work for scales though. I'll see what I can find and let you know dimensions (guessing 3.5 in. wide by 3/8 to 1/2 in. thick in various lengths).

Bump...

Sorry I haven't gotten around to mailing these out guys.... it's just busy with Christmas and all...:o

Just wanted to let you know I hadn't forgotten though.

Besides, the more time I have to dig through the wood scrap I'm finding other little "gems" I'll throw in your packages!:D
