Hello Gents (and Ladies if ye' be one)... I have a BUNCH of nice, relatively straight grain Cherry blocks that I don't know what to do with. I'm wondering if they would be anything that some of you makers would be interested in having? Maybe there's not much call for it, but I thought I'd ask.
I happen to live next door to a high-dollar, high-quality furniture maker who turns out some beautiful stuff. He's kindly given me access to his "scrap pile" of cuttings before he throws them into the wood stove
. He uses primarily, Cherry, Oak, Maple, Figured Maple, and a few other woods and I just HATE to see some of it go to the flames. Kills me to see birds eye and fiddle back go into a stove!
All the woods are kiln dried long ago.
If someone could use some of this stuff, I'd gladly send it out for the actual shipping costs.
I'm not sure how much of this stuff I'll find in his scrap box (a box about 5 feet tall, by 3 feet square, FULL of this kind of stuff), so I'll offer it out as I find it, first come, first served.
I been "leechin'" off these forums for a long time and I really want to give something back if I can. PM me if anyone is interested.
Here are a couple pics of what the Cherry looks like. These blocks are about 1.5 inches wide, by 1.25 thick and run from about 8 to 10 inches long. I'm finding some pieces larger... and some pieces smaller... this box of scrap "is like a box of chocolate... Ya' never know what yer' gonna' get!"
