What to do

I just bought a folder and some issues with it were not disclosed at the time.
The seller requested I return it, so I did.

The package was normal, out for delivery, and then delivered. The seller now claims the package never arrived. I've checked the address on the package, as well as contents (I always record when I ship things).

It was correctly written.

What should I do? I've had my share of lost packages but never when it was delivered.

This is tricky .. But sometimes I have had items say out for delivery or even delivered like yours and had them land safely the next day. Let's see what tomorrow brings

Yup. It may show up in a day or two. I would still be on the phone with the local PO asking questions. Hopefully the transaction was done on the level (IE paypal goods) and if it never shows up, hopefully you can work something out with the seller. Fortunately for you, and if you do indeed have all the documentation, you will likely be covered by paypal as they don't care if a package really arrived but rather if the tracking said it arrived. Hopefully the seller is on the up and up and not pulling a fast one. Hate to see these situations. If it is all true these rarely happen but often end up with someone holding the bag. Keep us posted on how this turns out.

I did pay via goods. I never pay otherwise unless very trustworthy.
I have receipt, and pictures/videos.

I won't say anything about the the seller until this is concluded, it would be in poor tastes.

Do you guys think it is preemptive to start a dispute with paypal?

More details. Just off phone with USPS. The seller gave me a case number that he opened. They couldnt find information, also said there was no way to open a claim without waiting 15 days after estimated delivery. Also since the package says delivered, she said it should be delivered and unlikely that USPS would do anything Insured or not.

Luis this is not to be overly critical but I've read plenty of your posts you really are a perfectionist and buying a knife that isn't new might not be your thing. You've often found fault in new knives let alone ones that have been handled by other ppl.

I can't say I am a perfectionist. I rarely have problems with knives I've bought (this may be 1st maybe 2nd knife i've ever returned on BF), and while yes you are right I do look at flaws that are often found in new knives or used I don't return them for those minor reasons, I only look at them objectively.

Some flaws are ok others aren't okay for me depending on locking mechanism, price, and usual reputation. I suppose in this particular case I may have been overly anal.

Well seems a neighbor had it, and was given to the seller today.
I want to thank Monofletch for everything, his information really helped figure out what happened. Truly an exemplary member.

That is awesome .. Last year I had a high dollar Japanese Tanto go missing right around Christmas Time. It showed delivered and we could not find it. Even asked my neighbor . Was figuring it was a total loss or maybe I could have fought it but who know what the end result was going to be. It was a custom and I had made several payments so PayPal only would have got me about a 1/3 back . Two or three days latter my neighbor comes walking over with his head slung low and hands me the package. I was so happy it was in perfect condition still and all was good.

Figured I would share that with you Luis .

Glad it worked out.

I would say next time, pay the extra for the "signature required" added service.
Unless I am doing a transaction with someone I know, it's not an option but a must....

They get a printed name and a signature, and they won't (shouldn't) leave it with the neighbor!

Thanks everyone for the help, and positive thinking.

Yeah I actually insure all packages over $200 without exception require signature. I have done this for the last 30 high dollar transactions I've had.
This time since it was a return to seller, and I've had very very good experience with USPS figured I'd just send it as is.

Boy am I glad it was found, won't be making that mistake again.

I think my worst USPS issue was when I mailed some high end audio speakers (Martin logans) This was 3 1/2 maybe 4 years ago. Long story short was buyer claimed non delivery. USPS investigation said it was delivered/signed by someone at the address it would not payout the insurance said to file mail fraud against the buyer. Paypal refunded the buyer. 1 year later I caught the buyer with my speakers and paypal paid me back the money and a bit of interests after a legal letter.

I'm glad I could help you Luis. All it took was the right info and a phone call. :stupid:
That GEO location is an important factor in most cases. The new scanning system tells the supervisor exactly were that package was scanned (in this case delivered).

I hope the next one has a happy ending!!
