What To Do!?!

I've definitely been bitten by the knife bug!

However, is there anything cool you can do with them besides oooooohing and ahhhhhhing over their beauty and cutting paper?

I can at least go target practicing with my guns.

You can peel and dice your daily lunch apple! I do this 5 days a week monday to friday. :D

I would carry it with you everywhere. You will be surprised how much you use it!

That's the best answer.

Of course knifes are tools, not toys! I've never suggested otherwise. By "cool" I meant building proficiency with the tool--like practicing the Mozambique drill with a gun or clearing malfunctions.

How do you build similar proficiently with a knife beside moving the blade away from your digits during its use so you don't cut yourself.

I'll try to be serious I guess. I was never one for oooooohing and ahhhhing over my knives. I never sat on the couch and flicked open and closed my knives. I never stood in front of a mirror practicing my knife draw for when the zombies attack. My knife usually sits in my pocket until I need it. Btw, knives cut more then just paper.

I use a screwdriver way more than I use a knife, and I'm definitely not spending $400 on a titanium/carbon fiber screwdriver.
I use my CF ti large sebenza 21

Use it to actually cut things. A fair amount of folks will just collect them and a bunch of folks will actually use them.

Why do people actually care about what people use knives for let alone $ 400+ knives.

Tbo I don't like using cheap knives.

They make them to use. They are tools and there is imho a difference between 50$ knaf and 200$ knaf.

With all that said. Knives can be fixed. If it's been scratched or whatever. Can put a new finish on it or whatever. So no real reason not to use expensive knives. They can be fixed.

What does this have to do with my use of a screwdriver...?

You could get a one of those inflatable flailing tube things, customize it so it looks like a flailing flapping SAK and then fight the actual knife with little danger to yourself. :D:thumbsup:

My two cents (even though I suspect a troll. I may be wrong. BF started the day with a troll) man didn't create a knife as the first tool for no reason millions of years ago. Keep in mind I said "created"! That does not include using heavy things as a hammer. As in rocks and sticks. I'm talking flint knapping.

Next step for a knife junky is to start learning about steels and evolving into a steel nut. Final evolution at level 76 is to become an edge junky, learning to sharpen your knives to bring out the best edge for each steel.

At level 100 you start making knives.

I'm having trouble getting past level 76 :)

toy (n.) "an object, especially a gadget or machine, regarded as providing amusement for an adult"

Unless you never whittle anything for amusement, knives are tools and toys.

Thanks for putting this into perspective. If you are into carving sculptures out of stumps, even a chainsaw can become a toy.

To us folks, knives are cool. They are generally made to cut stuff or perhaps pierce stuff. Works for scraping too and light prying. Give it a try and you may find out you need to cut stuff more often than you think.
