Thanks for the kind words Derek, The main reason I did that to my 14 is because I had won one in another contest and really wanted to do something crazy to mine since I had a backup. I never really found myself using the spine for day to day tasks and the swedge mad it more stabbing frendly. "good for opening things up" more of what I would use it day to day. Here is a little better picture of it after I blued it.
I have also made a few sets of handle scales and that is a really fun project. I have used screws for all the ones I have made thus far. I like the idea of being able to take them off to change them/clean them. Here are some pictures of the ones I have done. Oh and you can use Tweener scales if you want. That's what i used for the picture up top.
