What to edc when you don't need to edc?

I love knives, my collection is always growing.
But I don't need them. I don't open boxes, nor cut carboard, no food prep, etc.
Zero outdoors activity.
Basically I'm a fat middle aged lawyer.

Soooo what to edc?
Right know I'm taking out a bucks 102, a sak and a cold steel voyager tanto plain xl.
And a leatherman mini.

Obvious overkill, just carry them because I LIKE KNIVES.

What would be your edc recommendation for someone who doesn't have an specific need, but just likes to carry knives?

I built myself a credit card wallet that holds a Case back pocket. That way if you have your wallet you have a good knife.

Because I'm always trying to find "the perfect edc". The one described above it's the latest iteration.
A small fixed blade, a large sd oriented folder, and two urban utility multitools, different sizes.
I've tried to edc first, for example, a zt 0300 for strenght, a yojimbo 2 for cutting power, both sd capables, and the sak and leatherman.

You can build edc after edc systems, all reasonables, always changing this or that. I need someone experienced who can say "just wear a cadet sak" and I would say woooooo NOW I SEE THE LIGHT and I would be able to die in peace.

Don't say "just wear a cadet sak".

LoL!
Similar with me, I have 7 fixed blades, 5 folders and 3 SAKs, with limited usage.
All my friends and family know that I'm always looking for an excuse to pull out a knife to cut open a box or whatever...

Last one I got & enjoy edcing and I would highly recommend is a Benchmade 710 D2.
Feels great in hand, very smooth opening/closing, excellent finish, and it looks great in my opinion. The Axis lock is nice to play with and the recurve blade looks nice... got a BM sheath that can go horizontal or vertical on the belt...
These days I mostly EDC a Benchmade Griptilian 553 or the 710 D2...

have bm 741 onslaught and opinel 10...

so you would say pick the one you like the most, and if several, rotate?

thank for the suggestions, will research all of them.
Keep them coming, I haven't seen the light yet.

Man, you're the best candidate for EDCing whatever the hell you like. You can carry a $3000 custom or a $25 Opinel because you don't have any specific task at hand. You could decide to carry a bunch of stuff one day and just a single simple slipjoint the next. If I were you, I'd buy what I like and carry whatever I please.

I will say this. Never underestimate the power of a good small flashlight added to your EDC.

Another interesting data is that in my country, all type of carry is forbidden. So yes, it's equally ilegal to carry a SAK or a concealed cold steel two handed broadsword.

sage 1...have yojimbo 2 and manix xl 2...I recall a nuntfancy review on sage, will start research there, thanks.

i usually rotate my edc. i use my knife for boxes mostly but usually only a few times a day. sometimes ill prep my lunch with them but being in a kitchen i dont need to use my edc lol. i just would suggest keep trying them all lol. i have had 50-60 quality brand name knives and i just try one out and then sell it to move onto something different. so far i have only been stuck with my zt 0300, bm 530, zt 0400 and H1 salt after those the knives change weekly

Hello,

I like how you tell it like it is. Just because you dont need a knife doesn't mean you shouldn't carry one. Its sad that it against the law to carry a knife in your country but you know the legal risks being a lawyer. I would definitely take off what ever clip you have on any of your knives and put a low profile clip on it that looks like a pen clip. I use this one on a few Spyderco's I want to keep unnoticed http://usaknifemaker.com/folding-kn...lip-formed-tumbled-040-low-rider-stealth.html You just need to open up the holes a little for them to line up. Mods please remove link if USAknifemaker.com isnt a paid member.

Have a good one,

Chris

crk mnandi for sure. you can choose the inlay wood that you like the best. small and elegant and can cut pretty much anything you need in daily lawyer life. good conversation piece.

then run a black paramilitary 2 or any of the other midsized BM knives in this thread and your set.

I carry what I like to carry, because I want to carry and I'm allowed to carry. I carry knives ranging from a Kershaw Blur to a ZT 0561 and including many Benchmades and Spydercos in between. During the week I clice a few apples and bananas and open a few light packages, nothing I couldn't do with a 3" slipjoint.
