Hey all. I have been steadily trying to diversify my fixed blade knife collection over the last several months and thought I would reach out the the rest of the the forum for suggestions on what to pursue/purchase next. Like most I am a blade user and like almost all things knives. The major gap I see currently is I don't have many larger 6"-8" blades so that may be one direction I take but I am open to suggestions and feedback.

Not in picture - all my folders. The Mora's I keep in vehicles and a few various older or retired or use specific knives like fishing knives. Thanks all for the help.

Kabar 1211 comes to mind. 7 inches, and the new ones have better/higher grinds.

this one is kinda not too big not too smal, can do everything and looks good.
It splits wood well, nice and straight and somehow it's a good cutter. Can make killer shavings.
benchmade arvensis. The balance is right where the g10 ends and blade begins. It's 154cm

The only problem is the sharp pommel, but I rounded mine.

PS.
You can stab something hard, there is no discomfort :)

There have been a few well-priced ones in the busse sale ads, but a ratweiler is a really sweet 7.5" knife. I've loved mine, even though I'm back down to just one. I used the heck out of my SR101 (52100) version before getting one in infi.

I think the BK7 is probably one of the best values out there in that range, along with the kabar USMC. I think the buck 119 or 120 are also worth consideration, especially the 5160 variants that add a lot of toughness to the design.

Bottom ratweiler was one I used for several years, a lot. Middle is my newer infiweiler. Top was one that looked cool as all getout, but I couldn't bring myself to mar the finish since I already had the other two. Now, only have the middle on and traded for different things.

The nano fusion steel heart is pretty nice as well, though it's not cheap at all (ratweiler isn't cheap either, but not nearly as high priced).

Nice Skrama, you might take a look at the Bradford Guardian 6 in 3V. I have a Guardian 3, and a 4 both in M390, and a Guardian 5 in 3V. Great fit and finish on all three imo. They all came razor sharp and the grinds are nice and even by my eye.

Esee makes some nice large knives. Based on your collection, my guess is they would appeal to you.

Maybe something in a different blade shape? Tops has some good designs.

Where is your Jakaaripuukko?

With the Skrama, I don’t feel the need for too many more big blades, although having the BK62 has got me cosidering another one or two Beckers.

No matter what else I had, I would still want to have the Old Hickory butcher knives in three sizes.

Some options:

Carothers fk2, lagom bush knife (great all around), custom pukko, fixed blade optimized for cutting (thin stock w/ super steel)

I see you have a lot of scandi grinds, maybe look for something in a size you like with a different grind? I assume you really like the grind if you have that many. I think trying something with a convex grind could be fun, like fallkniven, bark river, or LT.

Edit: I wanted to say this up front but I'm unsure if it makes sense since you have the skrama, but a BK9 really helps solidify the bigger end of the knife options. You could add in a kuhkri or something even bigger than those for more of a machete like option. The condor golok is pretty decent for something easier to get, the myparang golok seems like it would be killer, but I really like my scrapyard knives 1311 so I haven't pursued the myparang much.

I don't think you would cry too much if you had a BK9 though, even if you have the skrama. I do think this is where the BK7 would fit in, even though I don't have one. The ratweiler of mine, being the thinner blade stock version, is pretty similar to the bk7 and they are stellar all-purpose knives if you still need wood processing capabilities in the knife. They have just enough reach if you slide back on the handle to act like a short machete as well. I like to call the ratweiler "a backup for everything" since it can do a lot of things decently well from chopping down smaller trees to cutting up meat in the kitchen.

How about one of these in a tough steel as well as being pretty cheap in cost. It's a Cold steel drop forged Suvivalist in 52100 for under a hundred. There are vendors here that should have one in stock also. It's all one piece of forged 52100, good luck on you hunt.

Is the handle scale something new or is that aftermarket? They used to be just bare metal handles, though still a bargain at that. I keep thinking I should get one of them from closeout and just use some cloth tape for grips.

The handle scales come standard on the latest version. It’s really tempting, those drop forged series knives are an incredible value.
