What to keep - what to sell?

For those of you who collect CRKs, how in the world do you decide which to keep, which to sell?
I'm trying to realign my collection and I am having a hard time figuring out which can be sold to make room for new ones.
I'm not complaining, it is a nice dilemma to be in. I just don't want to sell off a rare one if I can help it.

**Edit, here's a video I just took, figured I should capture them before some are sold.

well then start by showing us some pics and then maybe we can point you in the right direction :P

Collection downsizing/swapping really comes down to keeping knives with the highest monetary value (the collectable stuff) or the blades that have a special meaning to you.

Well, Take a picture of your collection and I will tell you what I will buy.

Actually you two, I do need to take another group shot....so I'll work on that in the next day or two. :D

I really wanna see that... /\/\/\/\

On a more relevant note, I say keep what you have, and buy more :D

If you wanna sell something, sell that which you could buy again easily.

Or don't sell anything, and rely on our friend "delayed gratification" and save up for others that you want.

Just my $0.02...

Tell you what, I will give you free accounting services for a few, sound like a good deal? I actually am starting to get a few CRK here or there, and its really tough finding ones that I want or can even get ahold of. I would definetely keep what you can. From personal experience, i have let a few items go already (Non CRK) and regretted it on one or two.

Sell the ones that were impulse because they were available at the time and keep the ones that you seeked out.

Keep the tough to find ones, the one piece knives, the old regular sebenzas, the Damascus, mammoth ivory, all the really nice ones you had trouble finding. Sell the ones you bought just because they were a great price. Odds are you can make a few extra $$$ on them and buy the ones you really want. I am sure you have an amazing collection. Every CRK suffers from sellers remorse, you will too. I have easily owned over 50+ CRK, but probably only have maybe half that or less. Everyone I sold, I regretted it in some way, but most of what I sold is ones I knew I would never use, so it made it a little easier. But it still was hard. And I never sold a Damascus or even had an ivory. Mine were more of the norm. Several mnandi, unique graphic sebenzas, one piece knives. But like I said, they paved the way for more.

For me a lot of times it's all about holding onto the ones that are either rare and hard to get in the future, or the ones I spent a lot of time acquiring.

I have sellers remorse much more than buyers remorse.

Thank you all for replying.
I think I'm having difficulty figuring out what is rare or hard to obtain because a few came to me so quickly.
I will work on that photo some time today after work.

You know I'll help you if I can Lisa, but advice is difficult in this arena as it is such subjective decision. For me, I tend to fall back on either the historical or personal legacy criteria. if I either want to keep a piece as my own private museum artifact, that's one point. If I can see myself passing on a certain item to my kids (or heirs) which is personally significant to me, that's the second point. Cool stuff comes and goes, but knives (or any personal belongings) that have a individual connection and are relevant to telling your own life story are more meaningful.

BUT, things are always just things. I'd sell every one of my toys if a dire need arose, no regrets.

this is why I only keep one sebenza at a time, I would sell off the newest dates and keep the older and more harder to find Chris Reeve Knives. I have seen some of the sebenzas you have sold and you do have a huge colection. If you ever decide to sell a small bg42 Regular plain sebenza, I will take it and reserve it. I wish you all the luck :)

A quick shot of the lot:
Two not shown are a serrated small that's for sale and a small that will be going up for sale soon.

I do love 'em all, but if anyone were to ask, I'd have to say these are among my favorites:

Great collection Liz, I love those different type of damascus blades you have.
Being honestly, I would keep all of those in middle line on your vdo clip.
I have sold many of my CRKs and did feel regret in some way which I never felt when I sold my other knives, but never sell my mammoth bark inlay, annual edition, and or those damascus blades.
You did inspired me to start collecting the mnandi and I just got myself the 6th Mnandi which is a snakeskin damascus on snakewood and I will keep her as long as I could.
I keep what I love most... i would lay them in order from what I love most to less and if I need to sell them I would start from that.
Good luck Liz.. BTW if you ever get bore with the Giraffe Bone Mnandi, pls think of me, hahaha ^^

You should defintely sell that snakeskin damascus mnandi - those are horrible - I'll do you a favor and take it off your hands:p
Killer collection - wow

May I ask why you want to sell any at all? That is an accomplished collection and I wouldn't sell any of them if I were you.

Exactly, I'd like to keep them all, as it seems like a fairly diverse collection...but there are still a few that I'd like and wondered if some seem a bit more common that I could easily replace should I have sellers remorse.
