So I have a Maxpedition jumbo versipack that is my edc bag. Give me some ideas of what to put in it because it's not nearly full. So far I have:

Garbage bags
Glock 19, with spare mag
Lighters
Small first aid kit
Toothbrush
Toothpaste
Kershaw skyline
Eye drops
Rain poncho
Leatherman wave
Small channel locks
Streamlight stylus pro flashlight
Streamlight pt1l flashlight
Surefire battery carrier with 6 spare 123 batteries.

And that's about it. What all do you guys put in your packs? Give me some ideas!

You could put a fire steel in it, redundancy is also good when it comes to fire starting. Also, some hand sanitizer or alcohol wipes would be good. You could also use hand sanitizer to light a fire. A whistle for signaling, toothpicks, and maybe an MRE snack wouldn't hurt.

Just some ideas.

is this something that you're carrying constantly throuout the day, or something you're carrying intermittently and leaving someplace, like in an office or vehicle at different times?

what's the AO? urban, suburban, rural, in the boonies? on school campus or at work?

back in the day, i used to have a backpack with me everywhere, later that evolved into a pannier or tank bag. now, i'm not usually hauling a bag with me constantly. i have a GHB that gets left in the truck, tools and other gear that are always in the truck and a bit more gear on my belt or in the cargo pockets of my pants.

if i'm on two wheels, it's not so likely to get left and there are bike or moto specific tools i need to have.

i'd suggest carrying the 19 IWB and not in a bag. no problem carrying another spare mag in the bag.

you're one of the few people i've seen mention carrying a toothbrush and paste. you might also consider a travel size bottle of mouthwash, or i'm about to upgrade the one in my GHB to a small Nalgene bottle and just filling it with mouthwash from the large bottle.

i'd suggest a spare 123A battery for the PT1L, or an AA powered light. (whupps, missed the spares carrier the first time)
you don't list a cell phone, but odds are that you probably have one, so i'll suggest an AA powered charger for the phone and a 12V charger in the vehicle. several kinds available, check ebay.

550 cord is always handy. same goes for duct tape, safety pins, zip ties and stainless safety wire.

a travel size pack of baby wipes, or at least a bandanna can be handy.

hat. depending on the weather. Tilley or boonie, baseball cap, knit watch cap. a Buff can be headgear or neck/face gear and takes up no space. also good for wiping glasses as long as it's clean. a shemagh can be nice when out in the boonies, not a big fan of them in town.

I hope this isn't a hijacking, but may I suggest something. I think that for some reason with EDC bags we go about things all kinds of backwards. A proper hiker will consider what gear he will need in order to make his trek. He will then get a bag that will allow him to best carry his needs. It seems with EDC bags many times, we find a cool bag and then we figure out how to fill it up. This to me is a sure fire way to carry all kinds of garbage that we don't need. Anyhow, enjoy your new man bag. They're terribly handy things. When your friends and acquaintances inevitably make fun of you roll with them, make some jokes of your own. Then enjoy the inevitable time when someone goes "you know if we just had a..." as you pull one out of your murse.

God bless,
Adam

I normally have a G26 IWB on me at all times. The 19 just stays in the bag so I always have at least one gun with me.

You mentioned the cell phone charger using AA batteries. That is an awesome idea and I need to look into getting one for the iphone. I've had it go dead on me more than a few times.

just some examples-
http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=m570&_nkw=iphone+aa+charger

don't think that's violating any rules. not posting a link to any specific auction.

for my previous phone i had a charger that used one AA. new phone bythe same company uses a different connector, so now the charger doesn't work. i need to get a new one and the webside for the old charger isn't up any more. that'll be hich on the list in the new year.

Nailclippers, tweezers, work gloves and babywipes for sure.

Id also throw some bandaids, aspirin, benadryl and immodium in there.

I'd also add spare contact lenses or glasses if you need them...

@crimsontide- thank you so much for posting that, ive been really worrying wether i should of picked up the jumbo for the 5

In addition to some of the items that have been listed, I keep a small note pad like a Moleskin and/or Wright in Rain plus a space pen in mine. I also have a small torx / screw driver kit that holds the bits in the handle.

Emergency money, small radio, signaling devices, compass, small fishing kit, kleenex/TP, GLOVES,

on the whole fire starting subject i recommend Soto Pocket Torch.

It uses the cheapo lighters as fuel. Cost my wife $25 at Eddie Bauer. But man it is sweet. My intention was the keep it in my go bag. But it never made it in there after i opened it up and started using it.

Perfect in the kitchen. I mainly use it to burn all my personal info in a metal bowl that i dont want to throw away, like bank statements, credit card applications, etc.

Here is the link if you want to check it out. I have only seen it at Eddie Bauer, have not been to an REI to see if it is there though
