What to use in place of 1084?

1084 is all I've ever used, and eventually my meager supply will dry up. What should I switch to to replace it? 1095 or 1080? I am doing stock removal, easy heat treat is a must and I want to continue getting good temper lines.

The 1084 your using now could very well be 1080. Ht's get tuffer going up than down.....

The 1084 I have is probably 4-5 years old from Koval's. Is it normal for a company to mark any 108x steel as "1084?"

1084 is 1084 and should be marked as such, the closest replacement is 1080.I don't think you would see any real difference between the two.

I've had good results with 1075,1080 and 1095. Try a little of all.
