What to use to sharpen your CR knives?

This looks like a great alternative to the Edge Pro!

It is a beast at reprofiling an edge, but for ease of use nothing beats the Sharpmaker.

I get very good results with both, honestly though if you maintain the edge with a strop you rarely need either.

I sharpen with a Sharpmaker at 30* and do touch ups with a crock stick.

I use a Smith's sharpening system- the one with rods attached to metal poles that slide through guides allowing you to sharpen at 20 and 15 degrees. I've used it for a while now and always attain excellent results...

Except on my Sebenza. I don't know what the deal is- I've done everything I possibly can think of: sharpened at 20, sharpened at 15, used the coarse stone plenty, used the fine stone plenty, started at 20 and ended on 15, started on 15 and ended on 20, stropped, didn't strop... and all that keeps happening is the blade tending to tear instead of cut.

It irritates me that my most expensive knife is also my most problematic. I need to send it in but I can't even afford the $30ish round trip right now.

and for some extra info, you can always visit the maintenance and embellishment forums.

I recently did a howto thread on abrasives and this should help you a lot with the choice of sharpening medium. Imo, the waterstones can be used as well as the sharpmaker, though the sm is a good choice. read more here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=776447
