What to you think of as a budget friendly price for an EDC pocket knife?

What do you consider a budget friendly price for a pocket knife?

Always loved the look of the GB2. Budget knife, to me, includes the idea of easily replaceable, and the GB2 isn't in that range for me at the moment.
I consider it a tool I use in my business so it is easy to justify but yeah, budget isn't a huge consideration. But compared to the boxes of snapon tools...

Yup. Thus the Ka-Bar Doziers sharing carry time with K390 Endura. You might be quiet, but you ain't dumb.
You know, that little Dozier is one of those I keep forgetting I need to grab one of. Every time I think "Now is the time, I need to get one", I go to a dealer and then fall down some other rabbit hole and end up with something else. I ended up with Knifecenter's Becker BK40 in D2 and that's a great knife. I recently found that it's on sale at the mothership and that is a screaming deal. Knifecenter seems to have sold all of theirs.

ANYWAY, that Dozier, I need to get one. Also, you have good taste as well. My flavor of Spyderco's K390 delivery is in my Endela. PERFECT knife. Just absurdly good.

This may be an unpopular opinion but there are a lot of cheap/budget knives where the rest of the knife is good enough but they don't make them in a steel I like so I disregard them or leave them in the center console of one of our cars.

They have a name though even non knife folk probably know Buck.

They've been sold in Walmarts far too long for most people to not be aware of them.

Nobody knows Sencut unless you're in the knife world.

True but with Civivi now in Walmart, will WE's entry-level (Sencut) and premium lines follow?

As Quiet Quiet reported, Civivi and QSP are now at ACE in his neck of the woods. I wonder where else they'll be showing up...

No matter how much money I make (my contract has raises every year) I will always be “frugal”. I believe there are many really well made and useable knives for under $100 and depending on certain style for even under $50. I have a few that are in the $400-600 range but I always shake my head at the prices of things. This especially occurs when I know that something cost way less just a couple of years ago!

I voted 50-100

Also, my own on-topic answer for the question in the OP is that my range would be between $50-$100. I have purchased several knives in that range recently (Rosecraft slipjoints) that are A. FANTASTIC quality, and yet, entirely usable. I have already scratched the blade on one of my Jacks because I had some bacon grease I wanted to toss and so I cut the top off a can with it. Edge took no damage whatsoever. RC does their slipjoints in D2, and it's the business. However, for modern locking knives, I've purchased many used Cold Steels here on the Exchange and even on Ebay for under a hundred dollars that have seen outdoors camping use with zero issues. Cold Steel S35vn is VERY well done, and as for their AUS10, I mean...a large Voyager is like $53. If you can't do every single knife task in your life with that knife, you're doing something wrong.

So, for me, I think there are a ton of budget friendly knives on the market today, and we're spoiled for choice more now than at any time in the history of the hobby. It's easy to see pics posted by many of us and think "Man, I need to spend $500 or else people will think I'm cheap/broke/not a knife guy/etc. That's false.

You post up an inexpensive knife that has seen some use in one of these threads and I see it, I'll smash that Like button every time. Nothing wrong with an inexpensive knife that works.

Signed, a guy with a collection of both expensive and inexpensive knives, and I love all my sharp children dearly
I agree.
I bought most of my expensive knives fairly early in my collecting days. My expensive knives were too nice to use for work. The Griptilian and Endura were my work knives then. Seven or eight years ago I discovered Cold Steel folders. The Lawman, Recon 1 and Ultimate Hunter became my work knives of choice. Great steel and indestructible (by me). And relatively cheap, with the onset of MAP pricing by my former favorite brands. Now knives like the large Voyager do everything I need a knife for, last forever, so far, and cost 50-60 bucks. I haven t spent 200 dollars on a knife in years, even with the the run up in prices. I doubt I ever will buy an expensive knife again. I can always look at my drawer queens.

Fifty to one hundred dollars was my choice. Yeah, I know that the average person would refuse to pay 50 bucks for a knife but, the options you get in $50-100 are amazing.

The knife that I currently use at work cost me $50+tax. I am not crazy about having a Spyderco or Benchmade slip out of my pocket at work.

For me, it’s the Spyderco Tenacious. I’m already quite happy with the Resilience.

just how great you'll look doing it.
I can make almost any knife look great , just by association . 😏

I voted $50 to 100 , but there are many , both below and above that range , that could meet the criteria , IMO .

$100 was a lot of money, for me growing up , long ago . Sort of a psychological price barrier , even now .

But inflation is real , and much worse than officially calculated . So I've needed to exceed the C-Note barrier , in recent history . 😖

I really like my Resilience. I m just trying to figure out if it s currently legal to cary concealed in Florida. 4.2 inch blade. Sigh.
HB543 allows you to carry concealed without a previously required concealed carry permit for blades over 4”. Was passed in 2023 according to quick google search.

I'd say it varies a lot between people and countries, the only knives I have seen where I live is the x actos and the blue collar stuff from dewalt etc, about $10 is the limit of what people pay here. if stuff breaks or gets nicked, no biggie.
