Title says it all.

We went out to spend time with the alpacas today. Case Moose in Black G10 did all the cutting and assorted chores. Both blades were just filthy when we got back.

But with a quick wipedown, a touch of Balistol on the joints and a touch up on the sharpmaker, its good to go for tomorrow.

not my pic, thanks Knifeworks!

I used my 60's era Schrade 8OT to whittle a peice of wood while walking to lunch and to open up an envelope :)

I bet nobody wants to borrow that knife after it's been lubed with Ballistol:D

What is that stuff anyway? It has a very pungent odor. I obtained some with some prelubed patches that came with a patchworm bore cleaning system.

I'll bet though it smelled better after it was clean and lubed with Ballistol than before it was cleaned up.

I guess I need to stay on topic here. I didn't have a traditional slip joint on me today. I did have my Benchmade 812S and had to cut the tips off of two Epoxy bottles (part A and Part B). No other cutting tasks needed today.

The "skinny" on Ballistol and what it is made of can be found in the Brownell's catalog. The stuff is supposed to be nontoxic and food safe.

I never had that much of a problem with Ballistol's smell. I find it even pleasant after the stuff dries...kind of like anise.

I have not had the opportunity to use my Queen D-2 Canoe hard, lately. The knife is clean and sharp and ready for any eventuality, however.

We are about half way through a complete kitchen remodel.

I have used a 80s era Schrade 8OT on the first day to help with the demo and today I have a 70s era Schrade 881 with a long matchstriker pull.

Used them for everything from cutting open theft deterrant packaging from Lowes to helping mortise out strike plates for new locks to trimming wiring.

I stropped them up nice and sharp for this event. My chisels got the same treatment and using good sharp tools make the job so much easier.

Actually ahead of schedule. The flooring guys are here as I type getting ready to lay the ceramic tile. That combined with the beautiful weather will afford me time to get the yardwork done. I am sure the 881 will get pulled from the pocket once or twice during that endeavor.

Yesterday when this was posted I cut up two apples and ate them with my Marbles premium large Stockman. I think I'll just do one today.

I thought I had a picture of it (NOT)

I used my stag linerlock Model 73

(purchased from Collectorknives.net THANKS Mike)

to cut off the plastic safety wrapper

from the neck of a bottle of Tapatio salsa picante :D :D :D

It's burrito night ;)

AND the 73 is still sharp

I cut up a couple of Avocados with my yeller cv trapper today.

I halved a large grapefruit with my Tidioute toothpick today and cut out the little segments for me and my daughter. It is the best grapefruit knife in my possession and it feels great in hand. Also cut the little plastic ties that secured a garden hose to its cardboard packaging. I am sure other small things got sliced up, but I can't tax my brain at the moment.

I have my sodbuster made by Mr. Johnson. Did I mention how much I like this knife, lol.

I used the toothpick in my pocket a bunch today (one of mine). By the way as far as gun products go I use Hoppes#9 for aftershave.
Ken.

I can't smell any worse than the old product Herter's used to sell called Proteger. Uggghhh!

There used to be a lubricant made by G96 or marketed by them that had a sweet banana oil type odor. I haven't seen any of it in ages, but I liked it when it was available.
