Granted I am curious about all the knives, but specifically what traditionals do you bring with you on your hunting/hiking/camping trips

do you just carry your edc and a saw?
do you carry a fixed blade (traditional or otherwise) to accompany your edc?
do you carry a traditional and make it work regardless of what tasks you come across.

I SUSPECT most folks do All The Above with their normal edc and a fixed blade and a saw just in case, but i dont really know for sure

I take trapper or similar slippie with me when I am backpacking, hiking, fly fishing, etc. I will take a saw, folding saw, or axe with if needed.

My edc usually will not change. Whatever is in my pocket on a regular basis will be in my pocket on a camping trip or hike. But I will add a sheath knife. Maybe my old Buck 102 woodsman, or a small puuko like my Bruslleto Balder or my old Frosts mora number 1 with the laminated blade. I don't go for large sheath knives, but I will have a folding saw around.

Carl.

When just hiking I only bring my edc usually a opinel #8, or victorinox recuit, or a thousand other options lol, when camping I add a bushcraft style knife, and camp axe.

Most of the time I'll have a trapper or a large stockman with me. If I'm hunting I will also have a good fixed blade with me.

Usually when I'm in the woods, I am hunting. I carry a folding saw, a 6-7" fixed blade camp knife, a 3-1/2 - 4-1/2" fixed blade skinnner, and a large folder. If I'm only scouting, then I leave the saw and the skinner, and just carry the camp fixed blade and the folder.

Hiking: Boy Scout pocket knife or Swiss Army Knife. Depending on how remote the hike may be, add a Buck 110.
Camping: Scout knife/SAK, '50s era Boy Scout hatchet, full size axe, and a folding saw.

camp knives are a grohmann #4,case hunter, and old carbon skinner.....hunting knives are old timer 140t,case 316-5 fixed blade, case soddy

When out hunting or fishing (I don't hike -- too old and knees shot) I carry my normal EDC knives and gadgets but add a Buck 110 to my belt. I have a bunch of fixed blades but rarely carry one.

If just hunting or hiking, the area that I'm usually in doesn't require more than my normal EDC. The exception to this would be brush or limb removal where I hunt. Then I would bring a saw or machete with me and I would have planned it ahead of time. For camping where I know I'm going to be in the woods for an extended period I prefer to have a fixed blade and saw or small axe in addition to my EDC.

My Victorinox Camper or a large stockman for hiking, camping or fishing.

Last time I stayed out overnight I brought a Case/Tony Bose backpocket, Busse BWM, Izula and leatherman skeletool cx.

When car camping or dayhiking, I usually have this:

For backpacking trips I usually have the Queen #9 CSB in the middle:

When out camping I take my Cripple Creek barlow and my old leatherman, sometimes I add a small fix blade.

Fixed blade and whatever slippy is in the pocket already.

Was all set last year to drop the fixed blade, and snapped the backsprings on two traditionals while selecting a knife for my trip.

Had never happened before, and hasnt happened since.

I was pissy about it but it was far better then breaking them on a lake or something.

If going on a quick hike, I'll tote this along.

It weighs less than a Buck 110, so I barely notice it.

If I need a chopper I'll bring this khukuri.

If going on a hike I usually carry a small fixed blade and what ever edc for that day is, most likely my dog leg jack and victorinox OHT
