What Traditional Would You Jump On

You've been given 200 bucks what traditional folder would you hunt down?

I would look for one of the few GEC #53 Cuban stockmen I don't have to fill out my collection. There were just so few made of most of the ones I lack, that I doubt $200 would cover it . . . but it would get me a good way there!

You know, I don't really have any pent-up knife demand that I would necessarily want to throw $200 at. My normal shopping range is at a much lower price point than that.

If the goal is to spend as much of the $200 possible on a single knife, I'd probably look through the Northwoods knives at KnivesShipFree and see if I could find something. Those are usually above my budget so I don't look at them. Hence, I don't already have a "dream knife" in that price range.

I would just buy like two GEC's and a case or buck or two rough riders. Or keep the remainder.

I would try to find a 1970 Case Muskrat with red bone scales and carbon steel blades.

Jim

I'd find one of the single clip blade Charlows in sawcut bone, preferably the tan color.

Then maybe a Buck 118 Personal.

I could use a GEC Bullnose or a Boy's Knife! If I couldn't find either of those, I'd definitely search for a #73.

If I was to ever spend $200.00 on a knife (I haven't lost my mind yet), it would only be one, this one....and the best price I've found was just shy of $300.00. I'm waiting for the Great Depression Part Deux to hit so I can get it at, well...$200.00.

What kind of knife is that? I guess I lost my mind a long long time ago...

I thought I would put a limit just create some boundary. It's just a hypothetical. I personally would get two or just one and keep the change. I haven't found them yet though. Though JustinR's (see above) is close. Maybe a Northfield UN-X-LD #42 In ivory used.

Personally, I would hunt down one of the 2009 or 2010 forum knives, they're grail knives for sure. :)

That most gorgeous piece, was Victorniox's 125th anniversary knife!

The only knife I'm really hunting right now is the one listed at the bottom in my signature. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to track one down, but the hunt is half the fun (or at least that's what I'm telling myself). ;)

I would agree. The hunt makes it that much more. The great deal makes it perfect.

It would have been better if I had never learned of this Swiss. That is sweet

Oh to dream...

Either use it to acquire a 2011 forum knife (someone offered one to me recently but the funds were to low on my end and to high on the other).

Or... Browsing my favourite GEC dealers site I came across two delightful things that that would together just about fit into the $200 limit; a pair of #61s - one in tortoiseshell acrylic and one in that rare tiger-lily acrylic. Lovely.
