I thought about a dead fall. but i want to make something diferent. I want a lethal trap that could kill a ground hog. i cant realy find one on the internet i thought about a pit with spike a but my neighbors have a cat. So what trap would you recomend to use. I shoot the with my beeman c1 and my compound bow . but the golf course is open near my house i cant do that now.

Hey Cpl Punishment, that is hilarious!!!!:thumbup:

I need a few of those for the moles around here.

I was going to recommend a conibear, but if you have cats around, they will most likely put thier head in it.

Another option is to use a live trap, in case you catch the neighbors cat...if you do get the ground hog, a simple pellet gun or small arrow/spear will dispatch in quickly enough.

Some trapping sites do have woodchuck/groundhog lure bait which I've heard works quite well.

Interesting point of view. You'd only get to play once.

I always made sure the front was toward the enemy. There was a moron in basic training with me who set up a dummy claymore backwards though. I'm sure he's at least made Staff Sergeant by now.

Back on topic, I'd do what Rock 6 suggested.

Yeah, it's been a few years since I've played with them also. In Basic (many moons ago:D) we did our training and a livefire. I'll never foget the little doe in our kill-zone. A couple of claymores were fired off before the cease fire. The doe, just twitched, like most would do when a gun shot goes off unexpectedly...and then she just walked on through the range and off up into the woods; she was a good 50 meters from the claymores up against a small hill with some trees and vegetation. I couldn't believe it! The claymores must have been aimed too high or something, but the two that fired had no affect on her:eek:

Speaking of mini-claymores for this topic, my father used the 12 gauge pressure plates for moles in his yard. After one went off in the middle of the night, he stopped using them due to soiled deposits his shorts:D

Havahart. No bait. Just block off all holes but one and fix it so the critter is forced to go through. It'll trap the groundhog as it enters or exits.

Cats can be released unharmed but angry.

Head shot with a 22-250 Rem. Works every time. :D

While a snare might work, it's indescriminant. Havahart is catch and release, if you want to.

Also be carefull Groundhogs can carry rabies and there fleas and ticks can be carriers of numerous diseases including bubonic plague.

Ground hog can be decent eating...Just use caution while dressing and make sure they are properly cooked.

I used a snare made out of steel wire for crafts and gardening and they broke them and i spun 2 together to make sorta cable and the broke that to.

Craft wire is too brittle... try Para cord,,, or some d'dario #10 acousitc gutiar strings..
Why do you want to trap them??

I caught one with a live trap recently. As mentioned, there is little possibility for inadvertently killing your neighbor's cat.
