What Two Knives?

Well, there was this cult leader that brought a bunch of people to a place he called Jones Town. I think he convinced them that a UFO was going to pick them up and take them to a cool alien world where people would like them, but these aliens don't have bodies like people, so the cult members had to shed their bodies by drinking cyanide laced kool-aid.

Several hundred people did this.

"drinking the kool-aid" is a term used to infer fanaticism.

Don't go looking for cyanide, I don't think Jerry is in to UFO cults.

That cult leader's name was Jim Jones

...technically it was cyanide laced grape Flavor Aid, not that I'd know anything about it :D

I still catch crap about the name

What worked for me was an FFMB and a Swamp Warden. Really covered with this set up. Maybe a Skele Warden in the future.

HellRazor , AD , CGBM . Great stabbers ,Skinners EDC or The Best Chopper .

If you want a totally unbiased opinion, you won't get one from me. The thin AD is simply the best knife Busse Combat ever made.

Won't get one from me either, but Mike is totally right.

Well, actually it's the second best, the best being the SHBA, but I kept my thin AD over all my MS's.

Someone didn't like the flavor enough and popped a cap in Ol Jimmy's noggin. LOL

Back in the day, it was reported that there was no gun found next to him, so suicide was pretty much ruled out. Revisionist history I guess.

Weird... that link just brought the realization that the "People's Temple" started with Jones in Indianapolis. A little more googling and I found that the church building, after being occupied by an unrelated congregation for the last couple of decades, is now empty and for sale.

The corner of 15th and North New Jersey. I'm not going to be able to resist driving by on the way home from work tonight.

Blood Grooves - You are too young to remember it, but this was still in the Cold War era. It stunned a nation to hear about hundreds of Americans being involved in a mass suicide down in Guyana. Far wider reaching coverage and shock than the Heaven's Gate (comet/spaceship, aliens, non-corporeal transfer, sneaker folks) that occurred ten years ago.

"Drinking the Kool Aid" has become a catch phrase of "following blindly." I'm guilty of using the phrase though, honestly, it probably is pretty insensitive to a lot of families who are still affected since their loved ones were caught up in that crazy mess.

It was sort of on-par with the Branch Davidian cult in terms of nationwide attention though it had more of a shady feel since it occurred in South America instead of hourly CNN updates from Texas.

Go with a BM and AD combo!

You won't regret it... best combo IMHO.
Although, the Cultellus may win out over the AD for me.
Hopefully I'll get to find out SOON! :p

Didn't Timothy Leary like to share his Kool-Aid???  :D

.

PM, I don't want to get 'political' here, but I lived through all of that. Heavens Gate and Jones Town were Darwin Award types and I feel little for them.

The Branch Davidians, while still a cult were calling 911 for help when the U.S. forces attacked and incernated them. They weren't intent on mass suicide, Janet Reno saw to that, and I remember her well from her years in So. Fla.

OK, rant off, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night. LOL

You're right. If we say anymore we'll get moved to political. :p You're right in what you're saying as well.

I really meant what I said though that the Jonestown tragedy was
sort of on-par with the Branch Davidian cult in terms of nationwide attention
but that is where most of the similarity ends. Only that the national attention focus was close to the same - something in blood-grooves life experience where he could draw a parallel regarding publicity.

Jones was for a time affiliated with a relatively obscure Protestant sect known as the Disciples of Christ. It is a smallish offshoot from the Presbyterians that was my family church. We had a couple Presidents (Garfield, Johnson (LBJ), and Reagan) in our fellowship, but Jones is what most people remember.

I agree mostly with that combo, especially the AD, but a SH could be substituted just as easily for me. Like the big/small combo.

Not Tim Leary, but the Grateful Dead. Read "The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test" by Tom Wolfe. Leary was a piker compared to these guys. They liked to share with pretty much the whole audience. LOL

Man! I had a good time in the latter part of the '60's/early '70's! Just wish I could remember it! LOL

i didn't have time to read all the kool-aid stuff but from my understanding a guy had people join a cult and poisined them with kool-aid. i saw a Family guy like that.

but so will i be able to find a AD next year for cheap or not? should i just buy an AD and save up for BM?

If the awnsers to those questions are yes and no then i will buy a BM now and later get a AD. maybe next summer...?

or this is an idea just buy a BM and pair it up with my GW???:confused::confused:

EDIT: i hope this isn't deal spoting its more of a "should i buy" i see and CGBM on ebay and it shows a picture of the handle portion of the spin is looks REALLY thin should i get one with mags?

You cant go wrong with the BM/GW setup. Buy the BM now while they are still relativly cheep.Get/make a piggyback sheath of some sort and you are good to go. The AD is a sweet blade but very close in performance to the GW you already have. Just my .02

I would focus on the bike first.

I remember my bikes when I was your age. They were very special.

The bike was about freedom, wind blowing through your hair, wheelies, etc.

Get the bike first.

Then get your dad or mom to get you an AD or MS.

The FBM is a large knife.

The AD or MS would be just right.

i already have a bike its not the best but it will do for short rides. i am not the biggest bike rider i just wanted something just a little more conforable but i think the knife will be better for theses reasons:

I dont have a chopping ANYTHING!

It will widen my knife collection

I LOVE the looks of this knife

Many MANY people say that this is a AWSEM knife

I know this may sound stupid but it will be something for under the bed for break ins.

and i also love the piggy back idea.

But i have been considering the bike but i came up with that previous list and this list

WHY BUY A BIKE:

I dont have a very good one

If i need to go some where further because more confortable

looks awesome

Pretty good reviews

easy to up grade

but thats all i can think of there the knife has more and better reasons to buy. and this big reason to buy the knife is if i buy a nice bike i might get into biking. why is that bad BIKING IS EXPENSIVE. to upgrade a bike it cost as much, if not more then busse. i am addicted to plants (thats my passion:p) and busse (other passion) so if i get addicted to bikes i will never be able to save up money let alone a girl freind:D

BUT CAN SOMEONE TELL ME IF I NEED MAGS. IS IT A MUST!

and is the combat grade one the only ones with the lined indents on the sides?

I find the mags more comfortable, but unless you have gorilla hands the standard scales are fine.

addicted to plants? dont you think 14 is a little young for that lol? no but seriously...i would save for a BM like me
