What type of belt?

I have just bought Craftsman belt/disk sander (2x42 belt, 6" disk). I know not a Burr King but thats all I can afford. I'am going to get some more belts. But what's the differance between Aluminium oxide, Silcon Carbide, or Zirconium Blue? I mostly work with D-2, but I'am going to start working with O-1 and a stainless(have not made up my mind as to which one).

FWIW, I use the A/O belts from Industrial Abrasives. They offer a deal that for every 12 belts purchased, you get 12 free, and the prices aren't too high either. They seem to last ok.
For finish work, I like the 3M Trizac belts, but they are pricey.
