What Type of Enjoyement do Your Knives Give You?

I enjoy the different steels and materials, how comfortable one can feel in your hand, the constant new information and learning, I like having something I can kind of focus on and just enjoy. I love trying different knives and finding the ones that are pretty perfect for me.

Above all, I enjoy using them as I feel they're meant to be used. I enjoy carrying them and being able to have it when I need it and I'm always at the ready to cut something lol. I like the simple utility they provide while being interesting as well. I really enjoy sharpening and maintaining my knives as well. I like tinkering with them.

I have to admit, I also really enjoy the pride of ownership that they bring. Whether it be a Spyderco Squeak or a CRK Sebenza. I like being proud of my knife and enjoy the pride and joy of carrying it around and using it.

I enjoy most aspects of knives lol.

I'm a user not a collector, but somehow I've accumulated more than I planned.. again. Oops. I love them though so that's what matters.

The hunt, filling a gap in a particular sub-collection.
Aesthetic appreciation of the materials and design.
Admiration of some technical aspect - lock design for example.
Fondling, of course.

I came to realize what I enjoy the most about knives is finding that grail, purchasing it, waiting for it to arrive, and then unboxing it. That process is almost like a drug and it's extremely addicting. I really wish I could be one of those people who are monogamous to one knife and carry it for YEARS but I am a philandering knife nut.

Among what has already been covered, my biggest joy is sharing my passion for knives with my kids.

My youngest son and I are constantly arguing over who gets to carry what knife on any given day, and he is always eager to help me care for and maintain our collection.

My oldest son is starting to take an interest. Last night we talked knives for over 2 hours. It was the first time in years we've connected like that.

I agree with most of the reasons above, and it annoys my wife. When I get as many knives as she has pairs of shoes then we will have to talk.

It took me a while but I have come to find that I really love the traditional aspect of knives. It brings me back to a different time that is very different than today's ever moving technology driven society. It gives me a break from my current life and brings me to a different time. I love to take my knives out on adventures into the woods. All my knives are users as I only get real joy from use as well as from maintenance :)

I'm a fondler. Best time is watching a movie with a knife in one hand a one of my wife's erm...yams in the other.

Now that don't seem quite right. However, I shall not judge until I try it with the Mrs. You may be on to something.
