they taste just like chicken!
Ok, I'll try to be serious here....
First off, please make sure that your daughter is responsible enough to take care of a cat/kitten. This is not a toy.
Second, please make sure YOU are responsible enough to take care of a cat/kitten. They require regular veterinary care, proper nutrition, plenty of social interaction and love. They also require daily "maintanence" if you will... feeding, cleaning the box, combing/brushing, and of course some love baby!
Nothing pisses me off more than a pet owner that doesn't live up to their responsibility of pet stewardship.
Phatch (I think) mentioned Abbyssinians as good and Maine Coons to be avoided. Man, that is seriously reversed. I have a good representation of both in my practice, and I have to say that I would take a MC over an Abby ANY day. Abby's look real pretty, but they are prone to bite and generally be bitchy. If you want an affectionate and totally cool cat.... get a Maine Coon. And by the way people... any cat with long hair and tiny little tufts of hair at the end of their ears is NOT automatically a MC. I get so tired of everybody bringing in a DLH (domestic long-hair) that weighs 10 pounds and calls it a MC. Maine Coons are a legitimate 15-20 lb. cat (without being fat) Females are smaller than males also.
Someone also mentioned that they have a 90 lb. MC in their hometown. I have one phrase for that..... photoshop scam!
One more thing... make sure your kitten/cat is FELV/FIV negative before you bring it home.
good luck, Mongo
