A close friend found hunting on the High Desert of Eastern Oregon - he gave it to me.

Most likely a German Jaeger muzzleloader rifle...in the early to middle 1800 time period prior to advent of cartridges. It has a working brass patch box.
My mind goes crazy trying to figure out whose rifle this is; why was it laying out here in the high desert of Eastern Oregon.
In the early 1800's people just didn't abandon or throw away parts like this (they're not like us). Had this rifle been broke...they would have repaired it or turned it into something else. So the only plausible reason it was left in the desert was it's owner either met his/her demise or it feel off a horse or wagon. No other reason I can think of...
Same here. Up in Va. years ago, while chasing squirrels. Some marijuana plants in a garden pot... quick look around and ripped 'em out and chucked them in the scrub.
I found a Happy birthday balloon on my birthday in the middle of the mojave desert.
Yep, BEER beer! Used to buy that a lot back 25-30 years ago.Ahhh, Good old Bottom of the Barrel generic beer!
