My hubby and I decided to get the boys a puppy for christmas. We picked her up last Monday........and now I want to gouge my eye balls out every night that we have to put her in her little play area!!!!!!!!! She wines and cries ALL NIGHT LONG!!!!!!!!!!!! What was I thinking? I should have never got the boys a puppy. Now, I know she is only 6 weeks old and she's in a new place but for the love of god.....I NEED some sleep! The baby is due in about 8 weeks and I barely get enough sleep as it is. I have been a walking zombie the past 5 days.

Does anyone have any helpful hints on how to keep her quite at night? Right now she's got toys, a bed, and about 9-10 feet of play area to run around in. I will take any suggestions into consideration at this point.

The Blade Babe is running out of energy and a Blade Babe with no energy is no fun and not so much to look at either.....if Jerry took a picture of me today you all would run screaming!! LOL!! Not a pretty sight!

Help guys!! Any suggestions welcome!

Ear plugs?:foot:

Every puppy I've ever brought home cried the first couple of nights, but they stopped after that. Maybe someone else has better advice. Best of luck to you........

I think they all cry until they get used to your leaving them alone... I would suggest running them hard before bedtime so they tire out and want to go to sleep themselves.... or you could use the one solution that works for just about anything....

Duck Tape!

This is old knowledge, but they always say that a wind up alarm clock mimics the heartbeat and soothes them... this is just theory.

A puppy and a soon to be new born in the same house at the same time. My wife says your her hero. What breed, and where are the pics??? :D

Unfortunately there is not much that you can do. Just out of curiosity, why did you get a puppy at 5 weeks? That's too young to be separated from it's mom and litter mates.

one solution....

The best trick I’ve ever tried is to place an old clock in with them, the ticking makes them think it’s their mothers heart beat. ;):D

OR, you can always move it into the bed with you or the boys, it will shut up instantly.. :D:D

Blade Babe,

Don't listen to the Skunk or Progunner. They're just mean old men.

When I brought home a new puppy to my wife 11 years ago (when she was in the midst of trying to wean our youngest daughter), the locking of the mutt in the laundry room lasted about 15 minutes. Then the thing found its way into bed with her and no more whining.

You're just gonna have to bring it to bed with you. Best get it done with now so that you can get some sleep.

i'm whining I"M WHINING... me ME ME TOO... woof WOOF WHINE :p :p :p

Our Rhodesian Ridgeback did that (still does to some extent). You just have to wait it out, since she's already got all of her necessary toys, bed, etc. If its dark in her room, maybe put in a nite light. If its not dark, maybe change it so its dark. If she was older, I'd suggest a shock collar, but I wouldn't use one on a puppy.

Ear plugs are seriously a good solution, or leaving your own radio on. In the summer, I never hear her because of the air conditioner.

Oh great guys, now I have to convince my wife that you were only kidding. Of course they didn't mean it honey, we all love animals here.........;)

Hey, since when is 32 old? Now Skunk on the other hand played cards with Abraham! :D

Get another one. Then they will have some company :D
Seriously, that is kind of young to be on its own. We have a crate in our bedroom where new pups sleep IF that keeps them quiet.
If they are old enough, they move to the barn and are kenneled with a benign older dog. At least that way they are not alone, and more importantly, we can't hear them!

But this does not help you.:foot:

We have never used the clock thing, but maybe it would help (make sure the alarm is not set to go off). That and a stuffy toy ?

Isolation for about a week so they get used to being alone. Here's a pic of my Daschshund puppy, he's 6 months old.
