I know that there are plenty of posts just like this one, but reliving the past reminds us how we started this hobby, so what was you first pig sticker? My very first knife was given to me by my old man when I was 6. He brought home a box with two pocket knives, one big one small, I wanted the big, he gave me the small. I tried to open it but it wouldn't, he tried and finally pried the damn thing open to find the blade was as dull as a stick. He put it back in the box and gave me the big one. I opened it with ease and he said, "the most frustrating and dull knife is always more dangerous than the sharpest blade in the world." My first advice to go with my knife haha. I still use this knife, it looks kinda elegant so I carry it in my suit pocket, in my briefcase when going to conferences and to scrape out tobacco in my pipe it I don't have a pipe tool. So share stories if ya got em, post pics if you still have em, love to hear and see what y'all got!!

The first knife I ever bought myself was a Kershaw Vapor II from Walmart. I still have it but it's not in great shape as I was a young kid when I got it.

first knife i won from selling popcorn, some cheapo 2 bladed stockman with flat red plastic inserts, parents took it away since it was "too slippery" in their eyes, switched it out for a camillus cubscout knife, but it wasnt until i bought a kershaw needswork that i really started getting interested in knives

haha cool story! I love those camillus cubscout knives though! I just found some at a military surplus store, I had one in my truck but it was my grandpa's he got as a kid, so I put it away for sentimental reasons, but gonna get a new one!

Mine was a Schrade Old Timer, 34OT.

My grandfather gave it to me in the mid-1970s and my parents kept it put away until I needed it for Cub Scouts. I quickly lost that original, but immediately bought a replacement, sometime around 1978. I still have that replacement knife, over 30 years later, kept in unused condition in the original box.

Since 2004, when Schrade went bankrupt, I've added about 60 more original Old Timer knives to my collection. :)

at 6 or 7 my Dad gave me a knock of SAK, similar to the camper, to let me prove that I wouldn't lose or abuse it and to learn the fundamentals of sharpening.

My grandfather gave my his 1960's Victorinox SAK when I was about 5. I still have it and use it a lot to this day.

SOG mini.

Dad isn't into knives and neither were any of my other relatives, so I worked a paper route for 2 months to be able to buy it. Still amazes me how that little knife was the starting point to this lifestyle.

A Dick Tracy jack knife with scales that glowed in the dark. My memory doesn't go back far enough to remember where it came from. I don't believe that I had even started school yet. Unfortunately, I don't remember what ever became of it.

Imperial Boy Scout knife that was new in the 60's. I still have it, but it has been in the 'junk drawer' for decades. It could be considered useable, but it looks pretty ugly at this point.

My 1st knife was a Case slipjoint given to me shortly after earning my Whittling Chip in Cub Scouts. Use to think it was a Stockman pattern, but in retrospect I believe it was the Fisherman/Toothpick.

A Helle sheath knife I got when I was 5 or 6 I think .That was a LLOOONNGG time ago ! Still have it of course.

An "original buffalo skinner " that's what the sheath said. Christmas gift from mom & dad. Lost it in a quarry pit lake playing pirates when I was 7 or 8

My very first knife was the start of my addiction. The knife was a Wenger Backpacker, with knife, saw blade, flat phillips head driver, slot head driver, can opener, corkscrew, and awl. It also has a little silver picture of a man backpacking with a walking stick on it that is mostly worn away. I recieved this knife on my 5th birthday from my since deceased grandfather. I still remember it to this day some 20 year later. First i opened my little tikes workbench which was awesome. Then I opened my police man kit complete with fake little pistol which I immediately put on. And then, what kind of policeman would I have been without a good tool, then I opened the knife. I was so psyched and my mom was so scared, she was sure I would cut myself within 5 seconds. Every second from that day on for a few years I carried that thing everywhere when I was out of school of course. I used it for everything and it served me very well. I thought I had lost it but recently I rediscovered it in a box in one of my closets. I was so pumped to find it again it brought back so many memories. Cleaned it up, sharpened it up, god knows I probably had never sharpened it before, and its almost good as new.

It was a Pakistani no-name lockback I got back in the early-mid 80's. It was used hard and eventually thrown away, I think.

My first "real" knife was a traditional Wenger SAK I recieved in the late 80's, which I still have.

hmm... winchester fixed blade from sports authority. surprisingly it has still held up with a only a few dings on the blade edge.

My first was a gift from an uncle: a Boker Tree brand folder back in the '60s. Unfortunately, it was lost somewhere along the way.
